- Damián T1 contributionA lovely spot to take a nice cool walk. The shore is as calming as ever and is a great way to get a refresher. Also great to stop by a cafe for some food.Written January 10, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Big BuckUnion164 contributionsGet there in the early morning before the crowds arrive- That means before 9am. You will be glad you did because by the time you are leaving, after walking/exploring for an hour or two- the lot will be filled up. locate the elevation medallion (1130 feet above sea level). that is anchored to a boulder up behind the goodie hut. Views from here are 360 degrees and one is better than the next- plenty of trails to roam around on. If you are adventurous- come back for the sun set- hope for clear skies- it is worth the effort.Written March 15, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HighlandLass24Baltimore, MD280 contributionsWe came to drive through the park - stopping at nice scenery (we were not there to hike or camp, etc). We did the whole park before lunch and that was with backtracking some of the way and covering roads we'd already been on due to traffic patterns. Oddly, our park pass was never checked no matter which way we entered. I will say getting around is confusing - the park loop road doesn't seem to be a full loop. At some point, we thought we were out of the park and in a residential neighborhood and then we saw a sign for scenery we knew was in the park, so we were confused. I think signage could be improved. We did like what we saw, some beautiful cliffs and lakes. It is worth it for a stop, but if you're not a hiker, it won't take up much of your time.Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Have Camera, Will TravelSouth Bend, IN3,808 contributionsI was looking forward to this stop on our road trip for months. Of course, it had to be on a very rainy evening, so our amazing photo stop turned dreary. It was still an excellent stop. We wandered up the trail a ways to get the lighthouse with the cliff below. We also watched a cruise ship sail past, which added an interesting element to some of the pictures. Hopefully your weather is a lot nicer than ours.Written November 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NieSamMaine1,004 contributionsIt’s been quite a few years since I’d visited and the grounds are even more amazing. There are a couple new garden areas, new pathways, and the trolls! Our August visit had everything lush and vivid with blooms. The woman who checked us in told us the dahlias had the best display they’d ever had so we were sure to check them out.
Favorites from our visit were the trolls, the Vayo Meditation Garden, the waterfall, the fairy garden with all the kids intently creating their own fairy houses, the hillside garden, the five senses garden and the arbor area. But seriously, it was all spectacular!
I highly recommend wearing great walking shoes - we did do some backtracking and visited each garden and each troll. With that said, my watch logged 5.7 miles while there. We each took a water bottle but wished we’d taken several. You could refill your bottles at the cafe and at the visitor center but we were seldom near either. I’d also recommend putting on bug spray or using wipes in the parking lot. The number of people spraying near blooming plants and bees was crazy!Written February 18, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laura MChicago, IL62 contributionsAmazing views honestly worth the drive up. Not sure I would have liked walking up so we drove and were glad we did. The hike is just a walk up the very steep road. The top has a parking lot and we spent about 30 min enjoying the breathtaking scenery from the top!Written October 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jaybeeFLPalm Harbor, FL3,480 contributionsHistoric New England waterfront still active with large fishing/lobstering fleet. Picturesque at every turn with vibrant restaurant/bar scene. There are photo ops at every step of the way as you look down the cobblestoned streets packed with centuries old red brick warehouses, narrow canals lined with the working fleet, and lobster pots stacked high. Loved it and finished our little tour with a stop at one the waterfront restaurants to devour clams and lobsters and down a couple local brews---now that's a good day well spent!!Written September 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RICART75Peru, IN2,451 contributionsStaying in Southwest Harbor, we spent a week exploring the Island; Acadia, the Harbor towns, and much of the amazing natural wonder of this area (we did separateTA reviews on several of these).
Being early May, tourist traffic was not yet daunting; allowing for easy travel, comfortable access to attractions, and ready seating at eateries. It also allowed for the opportunity to engage with some local inhabitants; before the "season" chaos overwhelmed their ability to leisurely converse.
The beauty of the Island is truly impressive; and we look forward to future visits.Written June 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It started in a completely different buliding then the main brewery-The Cellers where I guess it all started Linsey (sp) was very knowledgeable and her pride in the whole process and the company was prevalent throughout the tour. She explained the aging process and the barrel storage. So cool seeing the barrels and all the dates. She was very open to questions and gave us ample opportunity to ask them. The highlight for me was to see the canning and bottling production area. She asked the people on the floor if they were ready to start a canning run and they started one, so we were able to see it. Was great to see. The samples of beers given also were not ones I normally get so that was different and gave me some variety. She explained the details of each of the samples. I learned some that day even with all the tastings. Thanks for the experience and I will be trying more from Allagash due to the information given on this tour. The brewery was fun and lively and was an overall excellent experience with some great beer!Written February 1, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
