- im1Sudbury, Canada195 contributionsThe resort is very large and spread out . Plenty of walking to do . Shortages were very evident , but the staff did their best . My room was very nice and kept very clean . One day the shower was just HOT , one day just cold , but usually just right . I had eggs two times in 14 days . Fries for two days only . Gin and tonic once and awhile ,as well as the good wine . You had to discover what was available each day . We enjoyed it all the more !! I did not starve . We got used to the SPAham as we called it Not for the fussy , or faint of heart . . The a la cartes were good . We tipped with U.S . and Canadian coins . Funny , the only thing I was ASKED to change was U.S. $ Toonies were no problem , as I went with 2 and came back with 10 . I did my part . Changed the U.S. for larger , as well as Canadian . Sheesh , people worry too much about that . Weather was not great but no problem chair wise . Not a pool person , but it seemed like miles of it ! The resort was too large for my taste but others seem to enjoy that . Es Cuba for the next while , so just chill and go with it .Written March 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gaelle ELaval, Canada2 contributionsWe went by foot and went trough the 467 stairs !! It was a difficult journey but once at the top The view is amazing !!! At the top there is a restaurant and a couple of locals selling their stuff at a cheap priceWritten February 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - J P9 contributionsThe water was amazing, nice and warm by the afternoon... The sand is nice and fine... Some areas are with garbage, as per the locals...Also while snorkeling found cans and garbage in some deeper areas... What a shame...Written October 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Frank MBrantford, Canada9 contributionsWe visited the island as part of a catamaran and safari excursion. The water colour is amazing, the beach is beautiful and the restaurant is positioned perfectly, with good food. The safari tour is worth taking but honestly a bit underwhelming. Overall, a great day.Written March 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- IAlToronto, Canada231 contributionsMy child said that this was the coolest thing he has ever done in his life—swimming with the dolphins! And I agree!
The dolphins, Paola and her older sister Brenda, are raised in semi captivity. So this means that they still have access and playtime in the ocean area and the area for the show and their rest are spacious, they are part of the ocean (so it isn’t chlorinated and artificial like a swimming pool) and is as much of a natural environment as you can get.
The dolphins look healthy, happy and well-loved and cared for. Their trainer was feeding them treats every time they did a pose and the dolphins were going for the treats. You could see that Paola and Brenda do trust and love their human trainers and it is mutual. The dolphins are also given plenty of rest time and free play time in between guests.
Obviously it was a bit nerve wracking at first, when we were going in, because you simply don’t know what to expect! But the dolphins were so cute, so friendly and they approached you in a way that wasn’t startling to you. They rolled over and allowed you to pet their bellies, nudged in for a kiss and swam and jumped around you. It was heartwarming to be sure!
This place also has an on-site restaurant and bar and the restaurant serves simple yet tasty food and fresh papaya and pineapples, which is a welcome treat after the catamaran ride that we had on choppy waters :)
Washroom facilities are very clean, as well.Written February 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a long drive from the coast so be prepared to set aside a day of your trip to visit. That said, it is well worth the jeep ride down and offers some of the most scenic and breaktakingly beautiful views of the natural landscape. It really is out of this world.
Take your swimming costumes along as the natural salt water pool and chance to go inside the waterfall is a highlight of this trip. An experience which appeals to adults and children alike and is one of the most family-friendly day trips out of Holguin. I felt that the lunch served in the restaurant was also one of the best meals I had during my time in Cuba, which was unexpected given we were a long way from the resorts.
It was a peaceful and educational experience, which left me feeling I'd gained an insight into the true beauty of this country.Written April 25, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A zoo ( most are non- native and have been confiscated or donated to live out the rest of their life). - CubanWatersMontreal, Canada3,964 contributionsA nice edition to the city tucked away a couple of blocks from the main park. Lots of outdoor seating for drinks and eats. There's the indoor market building selling clothes n stuff and surrounding restaurants n bars all well done up. It's the new hang-out for tourists. frens and locals who have money. I would say a must-visit if in town for a spell.Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RoseSaint Louis, MO438 contributionsThe church is in good condition. The ceiling is quite lovely as are the stained-glass windows. It isn't the finest of churches. I was quite disappointed in the altar as one would expect a more elegant one in a cathedral. As in most quaint catholic churches there are stations for different saints where one can pray. We were there and children were preparing and practicing for communion.Written October 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pglejmSanta Cruz, CA4,180 contributionsScenic plaza with historic and beautiful view of architecture buildings and works of art. Shops, restaurants, museum, etc. surround the square. We came to this square numerous times during our short stay in Holguin. First of all, this is a Wifi hot spot so many locals and tourists use it to get on line AFTER you buy one of the prepaid internet cards from a shop nearby. We got a nice cold beer at one of the bars and then at night came back and listened to a very cool all girl band. There is an art gallery, Centro de Arte, which shares its pace with the Biblioteca Alex Urquiola and its FREE! Funky, unique pieces of art are fun to view.Written April 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- pt1092015Winnipeg, Canada4 contributionsWe picked this as it was not as long as other tours. It was okay but would not recommend a second time around. You see the real Cuba, and the locals came out asking for money at each stop...which is okay but one older lady followed me onto the bus! I gave what I had and would have given her more, but that was upsetting to me.Written March 28, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pglejmSanta Cruz, CA4,180 contributionsStunning architecture set in a very serene local. Has been remodeled several times, changing the architecture significantly. It held the very first clock for the town. The
Spanish army used this to help defend the city as it was the highest building in town and offered great views of the enemy. This church is deeply loved by Holguin citizens.Written April 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
