What travelers are saying
- BobBonHereLytham St Anne's, UK2,533 contributionsThe bridge was in very good condition despite its age and much wider than I expected. It was certainly being used by many of the locals when we visited.Written October 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Linda YFrisco, TX5,649 contributionsIf you are walking the Camino Português, the oldest town in Portugal (founded in 1125) makes for a perfect stop. The small town, delightfully picturesque, is located on the banks of the Lima River. We admired the historical buildings and got our Credencial del Peregrino book stamped, then headed across the medieval bridge for a picnic lunch in Parque do Arnado. Many tourists visit Ponte de Lima as a day trip. But to really enjoy the charm of this area, spend a night in one of the rural manors located just outside of town.Written January 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnfristBucharest, Romania4,275 contributionsThis is a collection of small gardening arrangements, combining horticulture with art. Very pleasant walk for 1 euro, on the river Bank as well.Written October 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - nadi O oIsrael1,227 contributionsIt is a museum of toys. We are in our mid seventies and we loved the museum very much. The exhibits are nice, some reminded us our childhood (although we come from another country - Israel).
We loved the miniatures of some main and famous building in Portugal.
The local team there was more than friendly.Written November 15, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The weather is ideal, the streets are clean and free of homeless people, shopping is abundant, and cost of living is attractive.
The iconic fountain in the center of this quaint town is a photo op. With the surrounding shops and multi-storied buildings, we felt we needed to include this scene in our film library.Written June 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. These Christian churches are solid temples which sometimes could also be used as fortresses and were mainly built in Romanesque style. It doesn’t deserve a detour but it’s worth a visit if you are walking in this town’s center. (It runs high above the river in other places.) It was too deep to continue. There had been some rain a few days before, I don't know if that was what caused the flood.Written September 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mjk101Vila do Conde, Portugal102 contributionsA fantastic park across the river from the town. It’s a haven to relax and repair. Lush gardens in different styles. Not too busy, so you feel like it’s your special, private space.Written August 15, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Benno ZNorwich, UK301 contributionsAs you walk across the Ponte Romana to the other side of the river the Santo Antonio church is worth a quick visit. The outside and inside of the church has some beautiful blue glazed tiles and the inside is basic but pretty.Written August 24, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LimpetScotlandScotland125 contributionsIt was well worth the short drive from our accommodation to this viewpoint for the views alone. The road up is good - tarmac all the way. Our sat nav tried to take us up a less well made cobbled road but if you just ignore this turn, it will re-route and take you up the good road.Written October 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Linda YFrisco, TX5,649 contributionsWalking north from Vitorino de Piaes to Ponte de Lima on the Camino Português, we heard the gurgling sounds of the Lima River before we saw it. There’s a lovely promenade along the riverfront as you approach the town. The water was crystal clear and a pretty shade of blue. The Romans identified the Lima with the mythical Lethe, one of the five rivers of the underworld of Hades. Good news – we did not lose our memory when we crossed the river!Written January 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
