- Chris MReading, UK17 contributionsThe KGB prison guided tour was excellent and very interesting. Unfortunately I felt only half the Museum exhibit, the second floor was to the same standard. The first floor contained a lot of information that can also be found at dedicated World War 2 Museums elsewhere.
I would recommend visiting but do make sure to book a guided tour for the prison as there are limited information boards.Written October 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A unique place, having a festive atmosphere as becomes an event location - credit to the events company.
However I left a bit early and had a chance to look around the remnants of the old prison at night which did bring a contrast - chill even, to the festivities.

Our guide, Anastasija, was incredibly professional and provided us with an excellent introduction to the museum's exhibits. She presented the information in an engaging and detailed manner, helping us understand how the exhibits work. We were delighted that everything could be touched, and we even got to take some unique team photos! A heartfelt thanks from the HES team to the VILNIL team for the interesting time we spent there, and a special thanks to our guide, Anastasija! Once you visit VILNIL, you realize that it is a place you always want to return to!Written September 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CleopatraBunnyFlagstaff, AZ1,797 contributionsVilnius has many churches but none like this one. The brick exterior survived Napoleon and the Russians. Take a look at the variety of bricks on display on the side. You’ll see where animals left their mark during formation of the bricks.Written September 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bea1,295 contributionsThe Church of St. Peter and St. Paul regarded as the most famous Baroque church of Vilnius is recognized worldwide as one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in the world and I cannot agree more. It is definitely a pearl of architecture.
The church’s founder, M. K. Pacas, died in 1682 before construction was completed. M.K. Pacas is buried in a crypt just below the entrance to the church, with an inscription that reads, “Here lies a sinner.”Written December 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are three beautiful churches near each other and many quaint shops and restaurants. The actual Gate of Dawn chapel is also great to see. When I visited there was a mass going on and you could hear the singing down on the street. The chapel itself is quite small and might not be so interesting unless you're a practising Catholic.Written July 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CptVonTrippLondon, UK301 contributionsThe interior is a little disappointing and surprisingly sparse but free to visit. The exterior is imposing, though, and the surrounding square is lively and impressive.Written September 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erik MVienna, Austria430 contributionsFascinating albeit sad look at Jewish/Holocaust history in Vilnius. Even found a potential relative on a board of Jewish members of the Vilnius town council before the war. They have even built a hideaway in the attic to get a sense of what people went through.
The museum The Green House was founded by survivors.
A lot of history and small but so well done.Written May 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The church is very ornate, but to me that distracts from having an experience with a living God.Written July 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - _hawkins8aRochester, UK30 contributionsWe picked a lovely day to visit the Vilnius TV Tower, blue skies and great visibility. We had our lunch in the revolving restaurant on the 19th floor and the food was good and reasonably priced considering you were a captive audience. The restaurant took about an hour to go through 360 degrees. We had to pay €11 each basically just to go up and down in the lift, if we hadn’t eaten in the restaurant we don’t know what was available just to take in the view.Written March 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard MHampstead Norreys, UK937 contributionsThe museums are very interesting. The lower floors have excavations of the old walls and tell the story of Lithuania across the centuries. The upper floors have recreations of room as they would have been in the 17th and 18th century. The outside is stunning.Written August 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Yee Wean TKuala Lumpur, Malaysia434 contributionsI was not there to buy much. I just wanted to go to the huge Maxima. The mall looks nice, usually malls in Europe are small but this is quite big. I like the extensive Maxima I could buy all sorts of groceries.Written April 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kevin WLondon311 contributionsI wasn't sure if I had found it or not. There are two solid-looking, anonymous brown doors on the corner of a building. Until you look up above the doors you won't realise you've arrived at the "Pinigu Muziejus".
It's a small museum with lots of coins including international collectors' ones with descriptions in four languages including English. It's interesting to find the offerings from your own country's mint in their collection.
Some of the old coins going back to around 14th century are on a roll behind glass which you can move up and down to select the ones you wish to view through some built-in magnifiers - I've not seen that type of display before. They also have some 13th century Lithuanian long currency - silver ingots which look a bit like a cigar.
There was something downstairs that allowed you to strike your own coin with supervision - I didn't ask about doing that but there was a guide who had asked me earlier if I needed any help/information. There's also a 400oz gold bar you can lift to feel the weight of one.
A nice way to spend an hour and it's free.Written October 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The main attraction for me was the church tower that you can climb. There is a lift or you can take the old wooden stairs up to the top. Great views from the top. There is a fantastic pendulum experiment going on in the tower.Written August 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erin S13 contributionsThe museum portion is in the basement of a shop. The amber was absolutely beautiful. There is a portion of the museum with magnifying glasses to see the bugs trapped in the amber. The upstairs shop has gorgeous museum quality pieces of jewelry.Written June 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
