The old town in Vilnius is such a gem! It is easily walkable, with parks, shops, cafes, and beautiful architecture to see. We had such a nice time just exploring the area.

I have been to many museums such as this all over Europe. The cells and execution area were harrowing and unbelievable to get your head around the brutality. The museum itself was interesting - and I would probably give it 5* if I hadn’t seen ones that were more informative and education elsewhere.

Truly deep place with rich history, dark stories. Worth the visit. Looking forward to nighttime visit.

Wandered down to this museum on our first full day in Vilnius and were warmly greeted on entry by a very friendly English speaking member of staff. After a brief explanation of where to start we headed in, where another staff member explained what to do when viewing the first exhibit. It was quickly apparent you weren’t going to be able to trust your own eyes and senses here. After making our way around the first floor, we headed downstairs to get our minds blown! The staff were incredibly helpful explaining how we were seeing the illusions and why they confused your mind - fascinating stuff! Particularly enjoy hearing how I saw Einstein but others see who they’re familiar with. I don’t want to spoil any of the surprises in there, so I’ll not go into detail except to say the layout is nicely spaced out and it’s a well kept and managed museum well worth a trip!

The views are amazing from the top of the tower! We took the funicular up for $1 and then walked down. The stairs are steep, so you should be careful of your footing on the way down.

We really appreciated the architecture on the outside of this church and of the nearby bell tower. The legend here is that once Napoleon saw the church he wished to take it back to Paris in the palm of his hand.

We went on a Sunday in the morning and poked our heads inside while a mass was taking place. There wasn't anywhere to sit so we decided to come back later in the afternoon to appreciate the interior further. There is a sign across the street in a spot where you can take a good picture of the facade and on the side of the church are examples of the bricks that were used in the construction of the church.

We included this church in a self guided walking tour of Vilnius because there are many things to see here. St. Anne's Church is close to the Bernardine Church and they have some nice gardens behind them which is a relaxing place to visit.

Great view of the city! For me the walk to the top was not challenging at all but if you need a break there are benches on the side so you can take a rest if you need it. I would definitely recommend this spot.

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul regarded as the most famous Baroque church of Vilnius is recognized worldwide as one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in the world and I cannot agree more. It is definitely a pearl of architecture.

The church’s founder, M. K. Pacas, died in 1682 before construction was completed. M.K. Pacas is buried in a crypt just below the entrance to the church, with an inscription that reads, “Here lies a sinner.”

We really enjoyed our visit, but do your research before you go so you know what to seek out. There are some lovely bakeries, as well as many historical places, and some great street art.
Be aware that quite a lot seemed to be closed in February, and most shops don’t open until at least 11, with many not opening until 12 noon.
It is definitely worth visiting, and you need a good couple of hours here to explore everything.

The whole Ausros Vartu (Gate of Dawn) street is an unmissable part of Vilnius. There are three beautiful churches near each other and many quaint shops and restaurants. The actual Gate of Dawn chapel is also great to see. When I visited there was a mass going on and you could hear the singing down on the street. The chapel itself is quite small and might not be so interesting unless you're a practising Catholic.

The cathedral is more like a roman temple with its columns at the front. The interior is interesting and well worth the time to walk around.

Fascinating albeit sad look at Jewish/Holocaust history in Vilnius. Even found a potential relative on a board of Jewish members of the Vilnius town council before the war. They have even built a hideaway in the attic to get a sense of what people went through.

The museum The Green House was founded by survivors.

A lot of history and small but so well done.
