- Paul TGrand Rapids, MI636 contributionsWe've been visiting the Spit for over 20 years, and while it's busier than ever because it's more accessible, the awe and wonder remain with the endless space along the shore and the rhythm of the sea. The wash-up of amber seems less.Written December 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nicholas NCopenhagen, Denmark818 contributionsI visited the aquarium. It was nice but could have wished for a few more tanks with live animals. Visited on the last Sunday of the month where the museum is free which also ment it was quite crowded. The signs was in English as well :)Written August 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dave48838Greenville, MI620 contributionsWe chose this spot to have our anniversary dinner. It was romantic and interesting. On a vintage craft, the dining room is in the hull which has been preserved, restored, and appointed in fine nautical style. The only caution is that a diner must be able to navigate a rather steep set of stairs.
The menu was not large but we each found a favorite entree - duck for me; shrimp for my wife. The food was delicious. We also had wine and a dessert which were tasty. The chef really knows what he/she is doing. We even had a special little creation (complimentary) between courses. The waiter was efficient but not particularly friendly (I don't think he knew much English). Expect to pay prices that might be 30% more than eateries on the street, but the difference is worth it.Written November 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Big_Jeff_LeoSt Helens, UK21,188 contributionsKlaipėda's main attractions are the historic buildings in the city's centre, dating from the 13th to 18th centuries. Some of its older buildings have picturesque half-timbered construction, similar to that found in Germany. Some of the other historic attractions are the remnants of the Klaipėda Castle, built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Order, The maritime museum in Fort Wilhelm and of course the Klaipėda Drama Theatre. The town has many museums including the Amber Museum and the Clocks Museum. The real charm though is the laid back atmosphere and the surrounding architecture.
One of most popular places in Klaipėda's old town is The Theatre Square. hosts a variety of concerts, the Sea Festival, the International Jazz Festival and other events. An important focus of the Theatre Square is the Taravos Anikė sculpture depicting a youthful barefoot girl. The sculpture was erected in the memory of the poet Simonas Dachas and perpetuates one of the poet's described heroes. Here, most days you will find a market selling local tourist products, specialising in Amber.Written September 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A Klaipeda castle guard saw a ghost who warned him that the town does not have enough grain supplies, thanks to the warning the city survived a difficult period.Written May 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nicholas NCopenhagen, Denmark818 contributionsThe beach and water is great. I didn't like that there was a beach only for women at the best location, then for families a bit further away and then for men the furthest away. Which ment I more or less ended up with all the families with small children since I didn't want to walk two kilometers more to get to the beach for men. Would have been nice with a beach just for adults of both genders.Written August 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
