What travelers are saying
- Mateusz SReading, UK745 contributionsWe had only one day to explore Kaunas. The best way to get there from Vilnius is by train, with tickets costing eight euros for second class and eleven for first class. The ride takes about 1 hour and 34 minutes. In first class, you receive a complimentary bottle of water, and the seats are located in the train’s upper section.
Airport Transport: There’s no train to the airport—only bus #29, which departs from a station five minutes from the train station. Tickets are one euro and payable by cash or card.
City Transportation: Kaunas is walkable, but scooters, taxis, and buses are also affordable and accessible.Written November 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We need to remember events like these, even if it is difficult, and the fort, along with the gallery near the entrance, engages with that topic in an incredibly delicate way. If we choose to ignore or not to remember events of suffering, how does that impact the legacy of those affected, and how does that impact avoidance of repeating similar events in future?Written November 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aussie_viajeraMelbourne, Australia26 contributionsThe tour was super informative. We only emailed a couple of days before to ask to do it and they were super quick to respond and help book us in. Monica our guide was very friendly and made the tour very interactive with questions and the ability to try out some of the exhibits. Would definitely recommend as a unique experience.Written December 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mateusz SReading, UK745 contributionsTickets cost eight euros, and you’ll likely need about an hour to explore and read all the information. The displays are very engaging, and I’d recommend taking your time here. - coley_713Newcastle upon Tyne, UK55 contributionsAnyone interested in medicine should take half an hour of their time to visit this museum. At 2 euros per person it's worth every cent! Whilst the museum is small, the enthusiasm of the staff makes it a very interesting visit. There are only a few basic rooms and the information isn't overloading. Be sure to ask questions and the young man and old man will be sure to have an interesting conversation with you.Written April 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard MBC, Canada333 contributionsAn inspiring and engaging museum telling the story of how 2 diplomats in wartime, Nazi occupied Kaunas, were able to facilitate escape for hundreds of Jews otherwise destined for murder or death camps. Israel has declared them Righteous Among the Nations. This story restores faith in humanity.

In order to fully get to know and experience the sacredness of this place, I would definitely recommend booking the services of the guide Liuda. She is wonderful, warmly communicative, able to light the flame of desire, so to talk about the frescoes that they revive before your eyes, and make you want to come on an excursion led by her with your loved ones.Written October 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
