Waking around the outside of the parliament building is stunning. With its neo-gothic design. And taking the tour (45mins) it really interesting too I wish they would a one more room then going into some extra details that maybe they could skip. It was very cool to see the grand stair case and their holy crown.

Definitely a must see. Beautiful way to commemorate the people who lost their lives. I’d definitely recommend reading about what happened before you visit.

Tickets are good value at Ft4500 (about £9) to include the dome and treasury. Allow plenty of time to see everything, particularly if you are climbing the stairs (as opposed to the lift) to the Dome.
Some amazing stuff to see including the relic of St. Stephen's hand.

Very popular shopping street in Budapest. Very crowded. Lots of shops and restaurants. You can find here popular stores like Zara, H&M, Adidas along with local shops. Could be nice for couple of hours hang out for shopping or food break. Enjoy!

Exceptional stay here. A genuine warm welcome from Kata who was the start to our wonderful stay here and she really set a warm and wonderful tone, thank you Kata.
Spa treatment was wonderful thank you Katerina and Delma for the therapeutic treatments. Great housekeeping team, they responded within a minute when called. Room service too was exceptionally swift to assist when called. The chocolates in the room were superbly delicious and the Alstroemeria blooms in the rooms were such an elegant touch thank you. Superbly managed.
Thank you to your fabulous team.

We visited in December when the Christmas Market was on which was quite a few stalls (although no where near as many as 2013) selling gifts, crafts, Christmas decorations and food and drink. Food prices were a rip off so work out the conversion rate carefully before buying! There was a little train at the top end and the square was filled with fairy lights and a huge Christmas tree.
The famous Gerbeaud Cafe is worth a visit, although quite expensive, the cakes are to die for.
The square s also one end of Vaci Street, the main pedestrian shopping street in Budapest.

We had lovely weather while we were there in February 2023 and we walked the embankment in the day and the night.
This is an amazing walk. The scenery alongside the bank of the Danube is just spectacular. It has amazing views of some of the best architecture and history in the world. It has some great statues and monuments along both sides of the river.
You must take the time to do this when you are in Budapest.

This park was still in its winter state and wasn't lush with grass or bushes. It would probably look better in summer.
It had a variety of different statues and monuments varying from a small mini frog figure, American presidents and other various local monuments.
There was lots of places to sit and it was nice to see local families using the park.

A short wait and a short ride. We went up just after dusk, so the city was lit up. View was decent. However the ride didn’t last long. It was fairly inexpensive, so I guess it is reflected in the price, but I would have welcomed a few more minutes.

The statue is at the end of the Margaret bridge over the Danube on the Pest side of the city.
It is of a reformist Prime Minster who wanted to end the hardline era of communist rule. In 1956 the revolt was crushed by soviet force tanks and then Imre Nagy was hung for his role in the revolt.
It is a very understated statue and easily missed. I walk past this and didn't realize what it was until I looked it up when returning home to Australia.

Nice statue along The Danube Embankment which represents a father's daughter. Has impressive views of the castle behind it. Nearby is another statue The Girl With The Dog Statue.

This has to be the most loved Policeman in the world. His belly is shiny from everyone hugging him or rubbing it. We can’t walk past without saying “hello” and giving it a rub.

The Christmas markets in Budapest are lovely. They are over a couple of sights so make sure you visit them both. (St Stephens Basilica and Vorosmarty Square) They are not massive but enough as lots of the stalls sell similar things anyway. There’s a cute light show on the Basilica which seemed to run on the hour and half past once it had dropped dark. Nice to see if you’re there.
Watch for the prices of food in particular as it is way more than the restaurant prices. We found most drinks weren’t too inflated, but food was nearly double. We thought it would be mainly cash payment but the majority offered card or were card only.

Duna Palota ("Danube Palace") - a former casino, and today a venue and ticket office for Hungarian Concert's popular tourist shows. Located very conveniently in the center of the Old Town, on Zrinyi Utca, and the concerts are held place here almost 365 days a year. We attended the popular concert named Hungarian Folk Show. Duna Palota is medium size theater but beautiful and ceremonial.

My best suggestion - If you want to have a very good seats, book in advance on official site - the tickets category 1 (37 euros) and choose the rows between 5-8. Get the confirmation by email, print and bring it to cashier, be there at least 20 minutes before the show starts, you should have enough time to exchange your voucher to actual paper ticket. This is critical and important. On time when we exchanged our vouchers, it was a 10 people line before us, with one person in the case. And plus to this it was an incident - the couple who bought their tickets from third party was not able to exchange their confirmations due double sale. It was long conversation with a cashier who had stated - this is not my fault - go to your agency where you bought a tickets. This dispute took time and we were afraid that we wouldn’t have time before start the performance. Then it was also necessary to climb up the several fly of stairs.

So be there in advance and DON'T BUY the tickets from third party - book online on official site or personal on spot. In additional the official site proposes a taxi transfer if you need for 14 euros round trip. Plus if you want, you can add to your show tickets - the evening dinner cruise by Danube after show. The concert was good, with 10 minutes intermission. Dress code- possibly Smart Casual. While highbrow classical music buffs will want a more serious concert, these show is crowd-pleaser with national Hungarian music, dances and songs.
