Humble reminder of the negative past and the horrific experience suffered by the Jewish people of Budapest.

Though this time I visited Budapedt for a short, didn't want to miss visiting one of my favourite spots in the city, for both walking and shopping

We visited in December when the Christmas Market was on which was quite a few stalls (although no where near as many as 2013) selling gifts, crafts, Christmas decorations and food and drink. Food prices were a rip off so work out the conversion rate carefully before buying! There was a little train at the top end and the square was filled with fairy lights and a huge Christmas tree.
The famous Gerbeaud Cafe is worth a visit, although quite expensive, the cakes are to die for.
The square s also one end of Vaci Street, the main pedestrian shopping street in Budapest.

This square is huge. It is located behind the beautiful Hungarian parliament building. It has some lovely grassed areas, a lot of paved / concrete areas and some lovely grand statues and monuments.
It has a metro station just by it and is also served by the No#2 tourist tram which runs around the outside of it.
Well worth a visit when you go to see the Parliament building.

This park was still in its winter state and wasn't lush with grass or bushes. It would probably look better in summer.
It had a variety of different statues and monuments varying from a small mini frog figure, American presidents and other various local monuments.
There was lots of places to sit and it was nice to see local families using the park.

Nice statue along The Danube Embankment which represents a father's daughter. Has impressive views of the castle behind it. Nearby is another statue The Girl With The Dog Statue.

This has to be the most loved Policeman in the world. His belly is shiny from everyone hugging him or rubbing it. We can’t walk past without saying “hello” and giving it a rub.

This little square is as charming in winter as it is all year long.
Had the fountain been working would've made it even more picturesque than it is.

Interesting church, built on top of ruins. It was part of our day tour with Viking River cruises. You can climb to the top of tower. Also a downstairs that is very interesting. I recommend this, while it is not as spectacular as some churches. It has some very nice things to see.

Its funny seeing a statue of an American president in Budapest. The statue is very lifelike and a good representation of old Ronnie.
The statue is there as it represents the Hungarians appreciation of his efforts to help end the cold war and the soviets influence in the region. He is facing the American embassy but also has a soviet monument commemorating the red army in his eyeline as well.

Pleasant enough square which seems to be one of the city's main transport hubs with the Metro & Trams and hence quite busy at peak times. There are several eateries and bars and shops here too.

This park is located in the heart of Central City of Pest with two large areas of green spaces. It’s a vibrant, lively square with cafes, a grassy expanse, a large reflecting pool and site of the Budapest Eye Ferris wheel. The Ferris wheel ride is quite nice as you get to see panoramic view of the downtown area. There are bench seats under large shady trees that allow people to take a break in the hot summer.

The two significant historic things in the square are; the old bus station and the Danubius Fountain, designed by Miklós Ybl. These beautiful statues of stone represent the main rivers of the country, i.e., Danube, Tisza, Drava, and the Sava. The pedestrian street Vaci Utica is adjacent to the square. Some of the most beautiful buildings in the city are around the square.

There is a also fountain at one end that has a plexiglass bottom that makes the ceiling of the a bar/restaurant down below.

This is one of many monuments, memorials, and statues that can be found in Szabadság tér. The Interactive Fountain in front adds a bit of levity to what is a solemn memorial.

It is controversial. Take time to read the counterpoints and make up your own mind.

Tucked in at the foot of Elisabeth bridge is this small recently renovated square, seemingly quiet for it location, however the hustle and bustle, is not far away with the touristy vaci street behind the square.
