This was Szimply the best thing that I did in Budapest (pun intended) - these markets are so cool! Szimpla Kert is a really funky venue, you've never been to markets like this, and the range of produce was really nice. As a tourist, it's nice to be able to support local producers rather than just the sellers at the big tourist traps who are all selling the same cans of paprika etc.. Highly, highly recommended!

Lehel Market is 3 stops on the M-3 from central Budapest. Unlike the Central Market, this market is mainly used by locals. Almost none of the merchants speak a language other vthan their own. Prices are much lower than in the center of Budapest. Lots of bakeries, butchers and produce vendors. Truly gives you the flavor of the local culture.

I was there on a Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately a lot of the stalls were closed. Those who were opened however had some nice things to display. From military stuff to old toys to furniture. A lot of things you can find there. If you are looking for a extraordinary souvenir I think you will find it there.

This is a great set of markets to browse, with quite a random selection of things on offer, and the laneway it’s located in has a really fun vibe. I picked up some unique jewellery but there is all sorts of things for sale. One of the stall-holders told me that they (and some others) are there more often than just the advertised market days, so you may be able to try your luck on another day if you can’t make it when the markets are officially on.

Lots of dealers and plenty of crates to dig through. Plenty of International pressings rather than local music and well worth a visit. Prices seemed a bit heavy in general but didn’t have the time to properly bargain hunt. Tip for anyone visiting from the UK is to have plenty of small change in Euros.

I went on a Saturday and there were a fair number of vendors. There weren’t a lot of antiques but depending on your collecting interests you may find something of interest as there are some coins, stamps, medals and items like that. It is easily accessible via the M3 metro line. It seems to start shutting down at noon so I recommend getting there early before the crowds arrive.

Best gourmet supermarket in Budapest with a beautiful assortment of cheeses, hams & salamis, antipasti, and ambient grocery products. Here you can also buy fresh bakery products, fruits & vegetables, and quality fresh meat. The restaurant offers good dishes with authentic taste. We just simply loved this place!
