Szimpla Kert is a really funky venue, you've never been to markets like this, and the range of produce was really nice. As a tourist, it's nice to be able to support local producers rather than just the sellers at the big tourist traps who are all selling the same cans of paprika etc.. Almost none of the merchants speak a language other vthan their own. Prices are much lower than in the center of Budapest. Lots of bakeries, butchers and produce vendors. From military stuff to old toys to furniture. A lot of things you can find there. I picked up some unique jewellery but there is all sorts of things for sale. Prices seemed a bit heavy in general but didn’t have the time to properly bargain hunt. There weren’t a lot of antiques but depending on your collecting interests you may find something of interest as there are some coins, stamps, medals and items like that. It is easily accessible via the M3 metro line. Here you can also buy fresh bakery products, fruits & vegetables, and quality fresh meat. The restaurant offers good dishes with authentic taste.
