So my wife and I got day tickets for this thermal spa.

It was a good experience, but I don’t think I could spend the day there… (We stayed for about two hours)

The indoor spas/pool smell quite badly and the spas get busy very quickly.

But if you’re going to Budapest you’ve got to experience the oldest thermal spa.

Only one small outside pool open, only 1 sort of sauna and steam room, so not much fun. Pools ok, full of Instagramers and couples that should have just gone home and had a bath together. Far inferior to Szechenyi and cost a bit more. Very disappointed after visiting the syzechni a few days ago, which was out of this world. Loafs of interesting typrs of steam rooms and saunas including volcano, aquarium and salt. Lazy river and lovely outside pools. Not as many putting couples. Food was better at Gellert but a bit expensive.
Gellert or Szechenyi , Szechenyi 100%!

Thermal Beer Spa in Budapest isn’t just relaxation—it’s an experience that hits all the senses. Imagine soaking in a tub of warm, mineral-rich water infused with hops, malt, and herbs while you have your own tap of ice-cold beer right beside you. It’s indulgent and totally unapologetic. The scent of hops lingers in the air, blending with that steamy, mineral heat, creating an atmosphere that’s both luxurious and rustic. You’re unwinding, you’re sipping, and you’re living it up in a way that’s equal parts old-world European charm and bold, modern decadence.

Lake Héviz is a thermal lake in a little charming spa town Heviz. It has healing properties for your joints. You can have two lake dips per day - 30 min each as per doctors. It had funky smell of rotten eggs but it’s such a pleasant experience overall. You are advised not to swim but just to float in a foam donut. We visited in the second part of September- the water was warm but it was slightly chilly getting out of the lake due to windy conditions. I would go next time at the beginning of September ( we’ve heard the August is scorching hot). There is an entrance fee- I advise to buy a pass - it’s much cheaper than buying daily tickets. They have nice updated facilities with showers, changing rooms and lounge areas. I would not stay inside for resting as It has that unpleasant smell from wet swimsuits- you do not feel it while swimming though. They do not provide towels. We highly recommend visiting this little gem for total relaxation. The town Heviz has old European charm, locals are friendly, a lot of vineries - you can fill a canister with vine if you are traveling by a car but they don’t sell vine in bottles. We rented a car at Vienna airport for our stay and used it to explore lake Balaton as well.

We had low expectations due to the reviews, but I feel like you get what you pay for. Make sure you walk around and see all the different areas, just go places until you can’t.

We had Wellness/Spa access and a massage each, which we bought online. The ‘Aroma’ massage was in the main hall, behind some thin covers, and the ‘Refreshing’ massage was in more private rooms in the back. Both massages were just fine, neither too hard or too weak. Cleanliness was also fine, I forgot my slippers, but a staff told me they don’t really care.

I think we had a better time because we went on a Tuesday during the last week of January, so there weren’t packed to the brim. Guy in the front desk was also pretty helpful in terms of explaining massages, wristband and signage.

Very cool experience exploring through the caves in the thermal water, the water doesn’t seem nearly as warm as advertised.

We decided to vist the Lukacs thermal baths instead of one of the more touristy ones like Szechenyi or Rudas as Lucaks was quite a bit cheaper and also stayed open until 8pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We arrived around 4pm and although there were quite a few people (mostly locals) using the thermal pools it wasn't at all packed. There was no queue to get in and the reception staff spoke quite good English but didn't explain the writstband system for the cabins so we had a little bit of a faff when we got there as we thought we could use any one that was free when in fact there is a cabin number assigned to the wristband. Luckily some other tourists who had used the baths before helped us out.

(As a note on the cabins: it's quite easy for 2 people to share a cabin - not necesarilly using it at the same time, but it's easy enough for one person to use it after the other.)

It is a bit of a maze inside the complex but in most areas there is signage in English as well as Hungarian so it's not difficult to find your way from the outdoor pool to the indoor Turkish baths, but it is quite a distance (or feels like it, going through quite a few corridors and up and down stairs).

Ultimately, once you're in it's a fun and relaxing experience. The heated outdoor pool has numerous bubble vents that go off periodically and there's a rapids area. The Turkish baths have different temperatures up to 40 degrees but you're not advised to stay in those for very long. They are small, so probably only about 20-30 people can comfortably be in them at a time, but people were very accomodating in making space for newcomers so although it might feel a bit of a daunting experience as you enter for the first time, it needn't be. You do feel very relaxed after 10 minutes or so in the thermal waters so it's a good thing to do after a couple of long days walking around the sights of Budapest! You can aslo fill a water bottle from various fountains within the baths to get the benefits of the natural minerals that way.

We didn't use the length-swimming pool, where swimming hats are required. In the rest of the complex hats aren't necessary but you are expected to tie your hair back if it's shoulder-length or longer. Flip flops are required everywhere.

We spent about 3 and a half hours at the baths in total.

The staff within the complex were quite helpful but a bit abrupt at times; still the Lukacs baths was, we thought, better value for money and likely to be less densely populated than other baths so overall we'd recommend the experience.

As this spa was only about a 10/15 minute walk from my hotel I went midweek after 5pm when it is slightly cheaper entry but still paid extra for access to the outdoor pools and sauna world. Plenty of rows of lockers but communal and didn't see any single sex areas for getting changed.
Inside area bit busier than outside. Actually got to do a little swimming in the slightly cooler outdoor pool as there were only a few people in it. The warmer one was very nice to relax in and be able to look up at the stars and moon though getting out the air temperature was pretty cold so couldn't stay exposed for too long.

Huge complex with lots of pools and slides, entry ticket for whole family was 53 €, ant that covered 2 adults and two children above age of 6. While it's even better in the summer, we still had lots of fun on closed adventure pools.

Nice place, I wish the off season options were open when I was there, because the weather was good enough. Also ... those having warm water would be even better :)

    Very nice food too.

Lots of people from the other side of the border, probably because this place is better then any option from Felix / 1 May. Obviously pricier too.

We went there on a Sunday, and it was not too crowded, we were able to use the slides too, although some people do like to take an inflatable tube to themselves, instead of sharing. I wish this part was controlled better. My kids were not able to get those easily so I had to step in and help them.

Beautiful place, calm and relaxing. Atilla was very helpful and welcoming. Would recommend! It was decorated in a modern and relaxing way. There wasn't many people which was nice. We went on a Tuesday at 10 am. The showers aren't great, it's one button and one was broken and the other was freezing so it left 2 working showers.

I had a HydraFacial, and I absolutely loved it! My skin still looks amazing, and the whole experience was so relaxing. The place itself is beautiful and has such a calming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in Budapest!

Both me and my parents were pleasantly surprised. The place is huge so anyone can find something for themselves. I really enjoyed the inside pools and the heated ones. Slides are great fun!!
The biggest downside is the price really, it's rather expensive, but it's not extreme compared to other attractions
