I hadn’t pre-booked but was lucky to get on a 10 am tour when I turned up. The pricing structure seems quite complicated – 6000/£13 for EU citizens, more expensive for non-EU but cheaper if you are a student under 24. Anyway, the building is certainly impressive inside, very ornate. You’re not allowed to take pictures of the inside of the dome or crown though. Earpiece commentary was quite good but the whole experience only lasted 45 minutes. Worth seeing, yes, but expensive.

Come here on a sunny day. There are beautiful views across the city. You don't need to pay to go up on the walls. Just walk around the area.

They have bronzed shoes from victims that were shot into the Danube by the nazi party. It is very moving spot close to the parliament area.

The Danube River originates in Germany's Black Forest mountains and flows through 10 countries, with variations in its name between countries. Over the past four decades, the waters of the Danube have become very polluted and are no longer crystal clear. I went on a few kilometers walk along its shores.

The Danube River begins in the Black Forest mountains of Germany and flows through ten different countries, with variations in its name depending on the country. Unfortunately, over the past forty years, the waters of the Danube have become heavily polluted and are no longer crystal clear. On this visit, I walked for a few kilometers along its shores, and enjoyed the riverside views.

Smaller church on the Buda side. Must have a ticket to get in. Beautiful inside, can go into 2nd level and look down over the main sanctuary from the balconies.

When completed in 1849, this Budapest landmark was recognized for its innovative engineering. It underwent renovations from 2021 to August 2023. The bridge continues to be admired for its rich architecture. I walked across the bridge to board the Funicular for a ride to Castle Hill.

We were lucky enough to visit the castle district on 15th March for the Hungarian Revolution bank holiday celebrations. The castle grounds are stunning. You can get a lift most of the way up. There was a square with some people in national dress and a brass band. Then we walked along the ramparts and around the outside of the castle (the indoors was closed). We then got free entry into the castle museum which was really interesting and very well curated. I would definitely recommend this place especially on a sunny day. The views from the top are absolutely stunning.

The Millennium Monument, located at Heroes' Square, features the seven Magyar chieftains who founded Hungary on its base. Various national and cultural events are hosted at Heroes' Square.

Great City, lovely people. We stayed at the Bristol Hotel with Breakfast for 2 nights. The staff were attentive. Good selection at Breakfast and the room was very nice. I would highly recommend staying there. Travel to see the sights is easy. Airport transfer is quick and easy all our arrangements were through booking.com The city has so many aces to visit and the architecture is stunning. We visited the spa and had a beer spa which was great fun. So many places to eat and drink. At great prices. So much to do we didnt have enough time in the 3 days so we will be back !!

During most of my trips to Budapest, a city I have visited over 50 times, I make it a point to visit Castle Hill. I usually stay at the Budapest Hilton, shop at the local stores, savor the delicacies at Fisherman's Bastion and other restaurants on Castle Hill, and enjoy strolling around the streets to appreciate the ever-improving scenery, as buildings are renovated.
