- CatherineSydney, Australia12 contributionsAt 8am we were picked up by our guide, Tara Meglic. Tara was very engaging and informative from the minute we stepped into the van. There were 6 of us plus Tara.
First up - drove to train station and van was loaded on the cargo carriage and we hopped into the passenger carriage. It was a 40 minute journey through mountains, tunnels and small Slovenian villages.
Once at our destination we then drove to our first hike for the day, there were 3 hikes in total about 2 hour long. My 78 yr old mother was able to do the first two, the third was for the more adventurous, only 3 out of the 6 in our group completed this walk.
After our second walk, we had lunch in a restaurant in the mountains whilst 2 of our group went rafting.
Towards the end of the day we climbed up 1610 metres in the van (25 hair pin bends up to the top and another 25 down) the highest point in Slovenia by car to see the most fantastic view.
The day (10 hours) was absolutely awesome and Tatar’s Meglic was brilliant. One of the best days I’ve had truly amazing.Written September 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MelR497Yamba, Australia2 contributionsAbsolutely fantastic experience! We were transported from Ljubljana to Bled right to the take-off spot. We had a small basket shared with another couple and the pilot. The flight felt so relaxing yet invigorating. Grega was an excellent pilot, very calm and experienced. The take-off, landing and flight were perfect, and the ceremony to follow was fun. Then finally, traditional cream cake & coffee overlooking beautiful Lake Bled just topped it off perfectly! Grega and his wife dropped us at our accommodation afterwards and waited with us until we were sure it was the right place. Definitely do this balloon flight if you have a chance. The scenery is stunning. Good company! Value for money!Written March 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Iris M7 contributionsTrying to see the highlights of an entire country in three days is a difficult feat but doable when the country is small, like Slovenia; and you have a guide who will pack it all in like Gorazd (George) Majcen of Tours by Locals.
We chose George as our guide, based on the multi-day itinerary that he had described on his Tours by Locals website page. The itinerary incorporated most of the places we wanted to see. To George's list we add our own suggestions, which he was happy to accommodate in our already extensive plans.
Thus, our first day combined a walking tour of the picturesque capital city of Ljubljana with a driving tour that included a stop in Metelkova to see its colorful street art. The second day included Lake Bled, well known for its beautiful views and delectable custard cake, and the bee-keeping town of Radovljica to see its Beehive Museum and panels and buy Gorenjka Chocolate, which is made here. The third day, which was our favorite, included tours of Postojna Cave, with its stunning stalactite and Stalagmite formations; and Klenart vineyard, where we tasted six delicious wines in its beautiful new tasting room overlooking the Adriatic Sea and Trieste, Italy.
Throughout our three-day tour, George provided background on Slovenia and its sights, as well as the personal stories and perspectives of a native. Having an insider's view as well as a guide who was flexible and congenial made our experience special and unforgettable.Written October 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
