The monument signifies Warsaw's underground resistance and their attempt to liberate Warsaw from the German occupation. One sculpture shows the brave men moving from the underground and the other shows them after the devastation of the city being destroyed.

The monument is located in a square by the courthouse which is also impressive in itself and the columns show the scales of justice morphing into the symbol of resistance which is displayed on the helmets of the men in the sculpture. Worth a stop and walking around the area too.

Beautiful spot in a beautiful park. If you are here in the summer, don't miss the free open air Chopin concerts that take place at this monument every Saturday and Sunday at noon and 4:00 p.m.

Overwhelming somber mood in otherwise lovely city, tribute to the fallen soldiers who died for their country

Situated just outside the Polin Museum, you'll find this memorial to the Warsaw Ghetto heroes. Ironically, the site of their last stand is a short walk from here, albeit in a simple, wholly hard to see park/site where the bunker is covered over and some of them are still buried down there after fighting to the end. The memorial is right over where part of the Warsaw ghetto wall was located, and the ghetto itself. Hard to grasp the horrors they experienced and the cruelty senselessly shown towards them. Best to visit the Polin Museum first, then come outside with a newfound or newly energized appreciation for the courage and resistance shown by these heroes.

For me, this statue is a very sad matter. War is always terrible, and it is even more terrible when children take up arms and go to fight. It is a sad place referring to a sad history.

The column is in a nice photo spot in Old Town and signifies the movement of the capital of Poland from Krakow to Warsaw. The current column is from 1949 but the statue is original and the two original broken columns can be seen just to the right of the castle.

The location is nice and we spent time appreciating the buildings around it. The statue has significance to the city and once you see it and understand the history you can look for other depictions of it around the city.

Fine structure and tribute to one of the early pioneers of Astronomy. This is near the junction of Krakowskie Przedmiescie and Nowy Swiat.

The Chopin's benches can be found in 15 places across Warsaw, all somehow connected to Chopin and his life in the city. There is a map on each bench that marks the locations other benches. Inforamtion are both in Polish and English on them. There’s a button on the each bench that when pressed releases a short clip of one of Chopin’s masterful works. I think it is a great idea to make something like that.

Stefan Wyszynski was the archbishop of Warsaw from 1948 to 1981.

His statue is located in front of the Church of St. Joseph of the Visitationists. The statue was unveiled in 1987.

To many, he was the uncrowned king of Poland who opposed the Communist regime. He is also credited for the survival of Polish Christianity.

The only person to win two Nobel Prizes in different fields is rightly celebrated by this statue. She looks great and probably should be celebrated more worldwide.
It's a very pleasant park to wander through from the Old Town to the river.
Well worth having a relaxing walk to see.

Must-see in Warsaw. A monument that commemorates heroes of Warsaw protecting the city during World War II. It is near the Old Town in a park. Careful, there are homeless and drunk people sleeping on benches and on the lawns, so it is best not to visit in the evening.

In a little park near the Carmelite Church you can find the monument dedicated to Adam Mickiewicz, very nice one.
