Beautiful and charming. It is worth visiting in the off-season, when there is no heat and thousands of tourists. I also recommend wandering around in the side streets, which have a lot to offer.

Castle Square is a historic square in front of the Royal Castle – the former official residence of Polish monarchs. It is also popular meeting place for tourists and locals.

This building is worth seeing, it is an architectural mishmash. It is huge, much larger than first appears. I only wish there was a display on the building itself and its use during communist times.

The Royal Road from the Royal Palace in Old Town to Wilanow Palace. Great architecture with impressive palaces, monuments, churches. A great place to walk and admire culture, art and history.

Overwhelming somber mood in otherwise lovely city, tribute to the fallen soldiers who died for their country

The Barbican is restored but still impressive. It was meant to be a pinch point for advancing armies because Calvary would have to slow down in this area to pass through. It is at the edge of Old Town and you can spend a few minutes walking around the Barbican to enjoy the reconstructed walls and features but much more time in Old Town at the nearby attractions, restaurants and shops.

I have visited the Fragment of the Warsaw Ghetto Wall twice now. Once in September 2021 and most recently in October 2022. The first time I went I found it quite tricky to find as it is tucked down an alley to some apartments. Even though there is a signpost it is easy to miss. Therefore on my second visit I have taken a couple of photographs to help people locate the entrance to where the Wall is. If you look at my photographs you will see I have marked a yellow arrow on two of them. One is the view down the street as you approach and you can see the blue sign on a post to the left of the photo. The second is taken facing the driveway / alley that you have to walk down and then keep bearing to the right to get to the Fragment of the Ghetto Wall. When you get to the wall there are some commemorative plaques and some information on the Ghetto Wall. It is well worth a visit especially like me if you like WW2 era history and artifacts.
Hope my images help people find it a bit easier.

Although having a long history, including the site of coronations and royal weddings, the cathedral was completely destroyed in WWII. In fact, major fighting took place even in the interior of the church and the Germans smashed a tank into the building during one battle and planted charges to level all the walls. One of the interesting attractions in the cathedral is a statue that was one of the few recovered from the church after bombing during the war. Like most of Warsaw, the church as rebuilt after the war, in basic Gothic style, with a rather simple interior.

An old factory complex converted to a stylish, modern cluster of eateries. Brick walls and various industrial artefacts on display remind of past times. There are both individual restaurants and a huge food court with stalls cooking food from all around the world. So everyone is bound to find something according to one's taste. We found the vibe very good and would happily return the next time we're in town.

On route to the uprising museum we came upon Prozna St. As a history teacher with a special interest in the Nazi occupation and the Holocaust it would not be difficult to understand my interest in this building. Unfortunately the facade that featured pictures of the victims was covered up and the building was draped in scaffolding. Indeed it looked to me as if the building was being demolished. Whilst I understand the need to progress I do feel sorry if my fears that we are about to lose such a historic and poignant building, are realised. That said I feel very pleased and privileged to have stood next to it. You get so much more from this, I believe, than you do from a curated museum. Even with what I have described I would recommend a walk out to the building whilst you still can!

We overlooked this square whilst having a coffee and found the whole place more peaceful and less busy than the square in the old town. The new part of the town is pretty too with plenty of photo opportunities to be had. Worth a visit to see the church and the statue of the bears.

What a find across from the Sheraton. We started with a Polish classic we have had in many restaurants in the US. Potato pancakes, smoked salmon and sour cream, very good.
Special of the day was Chanterelle mushrooms with multiple dishes. The Duck Dumplings (pierogie) in chanterelle sauce was unbelievable. Thin, tender dough encompassing a duck filling and a mushroom for every bite of dumpling. Outstanding!!!
My wife's salad of grilled shrimp, avocado, sundried tomato and arugula was also very good.
We both highly recommend this restaurant.
