One of the most famous attractions in Bydgoszcz, possible to see from various perspectives (bridge, both river sides), always looking interesting, no matter what weather. Preferably to see during the daylight.

Statue dedicated to Marian Adam Rejewski- Polish mathematician and cryptologist who in late 1932 reconstructed the sight-unseen German military Enigma cipher machine, aided by limited documents obtained by French military intelligence. Over the next nearly seven years, Rejewski and fellow mathematician-cryptologists Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski developed and used techniques and equipment to decrypt the German machine ciphers. They made it even the Germans introduced modifications to their equipment and encryption procedures.
This work has big influence in order to defeat German during World War II.

The statue is just outside the old town square and is perfectly poised capturing a lot of sunshine. There a few benches out the front which when we visited were full of locals. The statue itself is well crafted and impressive in scale

The Archer Lady Statue is one of the symbols of Bydgoszcz. It is located in the Jan Kochanowski Park in the vicinity of the Polish Theatre and the Pomeranian Philharmonic. The sculpture was designed by Ferdinand Lepcke and was unveiled on the 18th of October 1910 and used to change its location several times.

The sculpture of three mythical Graces since 1989 creates eye pleasing accent along the river. They are visible from the Mostowa street bridge. They are located on the lovely Stary Port - Old Harbor street. The three women appear relaxed, joyful, graceful and casual. See it in passing as it was intended.

While in the Old Town Square of Bydgoszcz at 13:15 and 21:15, Master Twardowski will appear. One has to look up at the second floor of a building near Jatki Street - Across from King Fu Fusion Resteraunt.

Massive monument in north west corner of Bydgoszcz market square, with amazing and somewhat weird history. First thoughts about raising such a monument were voiced straight after WWII - in first days of WWII market square was used by German invaders for public executions of Poles, who fought agains occupants. A commemorative plaque was laid as a temporary meassure, and a contest started for best design possible. The contest results were not accepted by the communist party, even if the winning sculpture was already released on post stamp. In the meantime a ready monument designed for the capital city became abandoned, as local rulers in Warszawa changed their minds about raising it to commemorate the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, after social unrest of 1968, so the monument was diverted to Bydgoszcz. Unveiled on 5 september 1969, on 30th anniversary of German troops entering Bydgoszcz, which was soon followed by mentioned executions. So, the monument became a main spot for all patriotic manifestations in the city. Last 30 years saw some changes to the monument, such as removing set of rocks with names of Polish towns and cities, that fought against German occupation - that was a background for the monument. Also, in 2018 the monument was moved to its current place. It is so large, it isn't possible to miss it.

Monument dedicated to Leon Barciszewski- the most famous mayor of Bydgoszcz. He did not want to rule, but to serve the city. His work was interrupted by the outbreak of World War II, and his life was brutally executed because he was a Pole.

This simple monument or a fancy marker rather - is on Mill Island. 18th meridian east passes through the Old Market in Bydgoszcz and you can follow from there to Mennica vicinity in Bydgoszcz Venice - as it used to be called - on Mill Island. Bydgoszcz shares its longitude with Stockholm and Cape town.

We encountered this truly lovely, relatively recent sculpture on the bank of Brda river at the gates to Old City Bydgoszcz. The statue depicts and commemorates a Hungarian cartographer Ferenc Czaki. Explanation is provided in Polish , Hungarian and English. This sculpture is very eye catching and enchanting. Take a notice especially that Czaki's research helped future creation of Bydgoszcz Canal in 18th century.
