We joined a Polish tour of the mine complex using an English audio guide for explanations. It was a fascinating insight into coal mining and the life of miners. If you want to know the story of Johnny and the mine do the tour!!

Ksiaz is a beautiful castle with an interesting history and underground tunnel tour. It's a little over an hour by train from Wroclaw, and then you can take a bus or taxi from the train station. If you get out at the stop prior to Walbrych Miasto, you can walk for about an hour through the forest to the castle. If you take a taxi, be aware that the castle does not have a taxi stand, so you will need to call for one to come and get you when you are ready to leave. The audioguide tour of the castle itself is about 90 minutes, so it's a long one! We had an English audioguide that was included in admission. The underground tunnel tour was only about 35 minutes, and we had to listen to it in Polish, because the sign for other languages wasn't until you get into the tour area, and it directs you to go all the way back to the security area to get the English version. Not a great way to organize other languages for sure. We decided to go ahead with Polish since it was a short tour, and luckily, there were videos throughout which had animation and made the story really easy to figure out! There are several little cafes around the castle, as well as a hotel. Everything is in Polish, but this really isn't a problem, because you can point or use Google translate. There is a pay toilet by the castle gate, and there are several free bathrooms inside on the interior tour. There are so many areas to see, and this castle is very worth a visit.

A good idea for a walk from the Książ Castle. Easy route, you can go with children. Such a walk is a break from the city and allows you to stay with a nature. Along the way and around the castle ruins, there are good viewpoints to relax.

Borowa is the highest peak of the Wałbrzych Mountains. The tower at the top offers a panoramic view of all the surrounding mountain ranges.

Chełmiec belongs to the Crown of Polish Mountains, although it is not the highest peak of the Wałbrzychskie Mountains. You can easily get there from Wałbrzych or Boguszów Gorce. The road is very easy, it is more like walking in the park than walking in the mountains. There is an observation tower at the top, unfortunately open only in the summer season. Besides, there is also a shelter for tourists.

A great place to visit on a cold and rainy day! Not too big but has everything you would expect of a proper conservatory: a collection of palm trees, cacti, fruit trees (mostly oranges and lemons), orchids... there's even a bonsai section! You can buy some houseplants there, too. The conservatory also runs a little cafe, the greens there are really impressing - makes you feel like you're sitting in a garden

The collection of percelain is just amazing. Certainly, it is one of the few places worth visiting in the city centre of Wałbrzych.

If u have a few free hours - u should go here. Beautiful landscapes near the city and (of course) both castles. Unfortunately proper shoes are the must.

This is quite a modern church as it was finished in 1904, but it's still nice and we enjoyed our visit as it was opened and we took time to explore it.

My husband wanted to stop here so we did but we were not impressed by the town at all, most was run down and the main square could have been anywhere. Completely unmemorable place.

It is quite hidden in the forest, one the way to Niedzwiadki mountain, but worthy a visit if you have time.

My travel proposition: We leave the car in the square in front of the station Jedlina Górna. From this place there is about 300 meters to the tunnel. We enter the left (closed tunnel), the right trains run !! Obligatory (you must have) a flashlight, 20 minutes we go in the dark!!! There are large puddles in the middle of the tunnel, and every few meters there is a passage to the second tunnel (about a meter high). After leaving the tunnel when it is possible, turn left and left again (360 degrees left turn). We go up a wide road up the hill. We reach a closed quarry, above it there is a viewing platform. Walking on the left edge of the quarry we reach this viewing platform. From the viewing platform, to the car, we will go along the green tourist trail.

From 1879, but it took the Germans quite some time to complete this neogothic council hall as they started the project in 1813. Two wings were added in 1903 and give the complex a fairytale palace-like look. Architect was the famous Hermann Waesemann, who also designed the Berlin City Hall which looks a bit similar.

Unlike municipal council halls in other Polish cities, this one is not on Rynek, but has its own square: plac Magistracki. This structure was never envisaged as a market hall, which often was the basis from which other Polish city halls emerged.
