Dress for the weather. Check the weather 1st.
Quick 20 mins transport by cable car with a one minute connecting to another car. Both ways it work.
Be aware that some lines can be long to get to the cable car from the city.
Paid bathroom on mountain top with restaurant to dine in.

We took a private tour from krakow for the day , it was £40 each for four people .We had to queue for a while to use the funicular railway but was well worth it , the views were stunning and we could have stayed longer but we were a little pressed for time .It does get very busy with loads of crowds but still worth a visit for the views , only down side was a very rude bar tender but I guess you can get them anywhere .
Altogether a great day and will try to spend a little longer there next time .

Visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in a group tour with our church. It was a beautiful day and the shrine was amazing. We actually attend ed Sunday mass here. The mass was said in Polish with an english translation on video boards. The interior of the shrine was richly adorned and the grounds were neatly kept and calming. Would very much recommend a visit.

We already visited Wielka Krokiew few years back, we even writen review here on TripAdvisor, but due to some works being done to the jumping hill back then, it wasn't a full experience. In september 2019 we did go back to Wielka Krokiew, and this time we saw everything, at least we think so. Lots of changes happened in the meantime around those facilities, with a main one - the whole complex has been fenced out, so now there's only one way in, on the axis of the jumping hill, straight from Czecha/Piłsudskiego streets junction. Ther are gates that put many people off, but those are open for anyone, unless there's an event going on on jumping hill stadium, then it is with tickets only. So, we did go in, and first we went to see a small exhibition on life and career of Stanisław Marusarz, Polish ski jumper, having peak of his career in the thirties of 20th century - Wielka Krokiew ski jumoing hill is named after him. After visiting this small museum, we went to the bottom station of ski lift (tickets) to the top of the jumping hill, passing a place, where one can get into a large inflated tube and slight down the super steep landing part of the hill. Three different lengths of the slide are available, all of them not for fainthearted. Nothing for me. Ski lift has only been in use since 2008, which means before that all athletes had to walk to the top of the hill - I can't even imagine, how exhausted they were, before even taking their part in the competitions. Short ride on the lift, and then, here we are, we on top of the ski jumping hill Wielka Krokiew, with amazing views over the whole town. Absolutelly worth a visit, prices are not so high, and the view is superb. If only they organised things a little, on their premises within new fence, such as put some signposts to direct people to those two obiects: museum and ski lift, and above all - put signs "open" on those gates at the front, so people would know they can go in.

Lot’s of shops, cafes and restaurants. We had some nice meals and ice cream. However it is very crowded, so if you’re in a hurry don’t go.

You get to hear about lot of local famous personalities and their achievements / legends associated once you have a guide of course. Though sounds like not a very fancy place but can be a part of your overall trip to Zakopane.

Ride to the top of the mountain is always exciting for everybody. During the ride you can see the cable laying down in between the tracks. This cable is attached to the other car. When one goes down, at the same time the second car goes up. The meet in the middle.
A lot of fun for kids.
    I recommend it.

Very popular tourist spot, a final destination for many walks in the Dolina Strążyska valley. Accessible by an about hour walk from the northern end of Dolina Strążyska (car park, toilets, buses to Zakopane), first on red, then on yellow trail. Siklawa waterfall is about 23 high, splt in two, with the bottom part (where the trail ends) being the higher of 13 metere, but the upper part above the threshold can be clearly seen from the large area around the end of the trail. There used to be a trail from the foot of Siklawica waterfall to the top of Giewont, which run alongside a stream that makes the waterfall - that was shortest trail to the top of Giewont, but also the steepest, incredibly steep in fact, and because of that it was closed, no longer available for hikers. Very nice round walk to Siklawica, about 2 hours, hugely overcrowded in summer and weekends with nice weather all year round.

Willa Koliba is situated just off Kościeliska (a street in Zakopane where most of the old wooden highlander houses are). The house is a museum and very good example of the old Goralska (highlander) style which if you are interested in the local architecture is well worth the visit. The craftmanship is amazing!
The opening hours can vary and the museum is closed for lunch therefore it is best to check beforehand when it will be open. The staff were pleasant and helpful. At present there is limited English speakers, however, we managed to muddle through and I am sure this will change as more people discover Zakopane.
The house has just had renovations carried out to ensure wheelchair access and now there is a small shop.
