We booked this food tour on our very first night in Krakow (& it was our 1st ever food tour as well). Everything was well organized & as we progressed to each location, Ania gave us background on both the location and food we were trying. Because we did this our first night, it gave us ideas of what we wanted to eat 'again' as we spent the remainder of our vacation in Krakow.
We were the only ones in our group (family of 6, w 4 kids). I was a bit nervous booking this tour as my younger kids aren't the most adventerous eaters. But, they all had so much fun; we were so stuffed by the end that we needed to take an extra long walk back. Ania was a lot of fun (she also sent a follow-up email with reminders of what we ate, recipes & tips). We absolutely recommend this tour!

I went on the pub crawl last night and it was great! The people were great, good bar choice and special shout-out to Bryanh who made sure everyone had a good night!

If you’re travelling solo then this is a great way to meet people! Bryanh introduced me to so many people and was a great laugh, I’d definitely go again with him.

I love to take a cooking class when visiting foreign countries and Delicious Poland were so helpful when I contacted them.
The restaurant is an easy tram ride from the Old Town. It is probably best if you can go as part of a pair but I was just fine on my own and had my own space/ingredients to work with. Olga is a brilliant teacher and her Grandmother is very hands-on in helping you out. I enjoyed the savoury Pierogi, just as well as I had my whole portion to myself! I didn't care for the blueberry version.
Olga emailed us the recipe together with some really helpful information about Krakow and I will definitely join the food tour next time!
The week after I got home, I made my own Pierogi and they were a real hit!

    Delicious Polish Wines…….who knew🤣?

We spent a very enjoyable 2 hours at Ferment, tasting a sparkling, several white and a red wine all from Poland. We found out about the history of Polish winemaking.
With a couple of shots thrown in at the end and an accompanying board of cheese, meat and bread, this was a very satisfying afternoon.
    Highly recommended.

The departure location is the Square. It is a huge area. No landmarks given in the departure date. The listing does not explain what the guide looks like. You just wander around the square looking for a potential tour guide between 21:30 and 22:00. Listing needs to do a better job coordinating the departure point.

Do not believe the pictures or the description. This is NOT a cooking workshop it is an overpriced lunch with a 5 minute demo. we literally got to stuff one pre rolled pierogi with pre made stuffing. Having now reread the description the workshop wasn't anywhere near as interactive as is described. I am wholly wholly disappointed with the experience. We paid over £200 for a mediocre lunch and no real cooking. If you want to do a pierogi experience AVOID THIS I am actively seeking a refund / charge back for this

The tour was perfect in length, amount of food and drink as well as the history/culture explained by Kasia. I'm not a fan of herrings so Kasia found me an alternative which was great, it was good to know that the tour is flexible to the customers needs.

Great experience, Kasia is fabulous and good company...a lot of fun and good food 'n' drink was had.

    Thank you Kasia!

Our guide Dominika provided us with an unforgettable experience in Krakow. It was a private tour, and Dominika made us feel like we were friends from the beginning. She took us to 4 different places to eat, and explained the dishes in detail, which helped us understand the importance of the local dishes we tried. On our way to each restaurant, Dominika took the time to explain the area, and places that we should consider for future visits. I highly recommend this tour, you’ll leave with a full stomach and a deeper appreciation for Krakow.

Has anyone done both tours before?
Do you think the former is worth doing?

I have done the tour with a guide - so i guess techncially i have gone on the "General tour 3.5h" or something similar, but i am only at Auschwitz 1 for 1.5h, and then we rushed to Auschwitz 2-Birkenau for 1h. i recently went on a organized tour from Krakow bc i couldnt secure guided tour ticket at the last minute from the website. but i think my guide may a person in training (?) cos he was guiding us with an Auschwitz educator standing beside him all the time. I still couldnt figure out whether he is a new guide in training within Auschwitz, or he needs to be chaperoned bc he is a guide hired from the 'outside' (ie not someone hired by the Aushcwitz site). I am inclined to believe it is the latter, but not sure, so would appreciate anyone with better insights. So this means there could be 2 diff guides - one is a tour agency guide from the outside, and another is a Auschwitz educator guide?
Answer: for future readers - I did the 6 hour tour and it is a better pace, smaller group and you visit a few more places in the camps. Our guide was very good. Worthwhile if you have more than a passing interest in the history. We were at Auschwitz for 3 hours and birkenau for 2.25 hours. Crowds were smaller that day so we didn’t have to stop to wait for other groups. I then returned to Auschwitz around 4pm to walk through on my own and to visit some of the country specific exhibits - Hungary’s exhibit is especially good. In order to return to camp 1, I purchased free tickets ahead of time since you have to renter the queue.

Tour vs self guided - 100% go on a tour. The guides paint a more complete picture than you will get from a guidebook. You can arrive early if you want to see birkenau before it gets crowded and walk on your own. No ticket is required to visit birkenau.

Auschwitz vs birkenau - you want to see both. Auschwitz is more intact and has almost all of the exhibits. The exhibits of luggage, eyeglasses, shoes, and human hair is overwhelming. Birkenau is 25x the size of Auschwitz camp 1. Many buildings were destroyed but you can get a better feel for the scale of the genocide. Even with most buildings destroyed you get a chill realizing how people were sorted and put to death. Many times within hours of arrival.

Krakow ghetto - to round out your experience walk through the ghetto and Jewish quarter. Visit the synagogues. Realize the size of the Jewish community that thrived in this area and then 90% of them were killed.

Last - learn about the history that led up to the holocaust. Hitler did not rise up in a vacuum. There were 20 years of anti-semitism that occurred before the death camps. The nazis were very good at isolating Jews, cutting them off from day to day community and business involvement and then eventually shipped them off to forced labor and death. Awareness of that history will help prevent this from ever happening again.
