- DoniBarcaVilnius, Lithuania35 contributionsAmazing industrial heritage site. One of the most underrated places in Czech republic locations. Absolutely a must to see when visiting Moravia.
With 2 small child visited:
1. Ascended Bolt tower 80m. with cafe there for ice cream.
2. Small museum hangar with history of industry and technologies, which every place is interactive
3. Big museum hangar with nowadays technologies exhibits
4. Walked everywhere around
5. Slept in Hotel VP1 just over the street
Lot of space for parking.
Amazing place!Written August 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The whole experience was great - a convenient lift to take you up and friendly multi-lingual staff on hand to assist.
Prices were 80 crowns/€3.24 for adults, 40 crowns for concessions.Written August 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The exception is for the big cats, that I thought were kind of cramped - but I think they are supposed to move soon. Other than that, it seems like the animals are being taken very well care of, and it feels like the zoo has a good balance of allowing people to see animals while still ensuring the animals' quality of life. I thought the lemur island was cool, for instance - where people are allowed in just one hour a day - and the safari train allows for getting a nice view of e.g. antilopes and buffalos even when they are scattered over a large area.
I also enjoyed the forest paths you can find all over the zoo, and the plantings seem to be well thought through and taken care of. I spent about 4 hours here, and still hadn't seen all the paths by the end of it!
I think 4 exhibits were closed/under construction when I was there, which I think is fine! There were also some of the animals that I didn't manage to see, because of the big enclosures and hiding places, but I think that's just a part of being in a zoo that prioritises animal welfare. I would much rather not have seen an animal because it's doing its own thing in peace, than to see an animal that's distressed and confined to a small space!Written August 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The guide seemed to make some great jokes which I missed out on. Great examples of old machinery. Seems like they just walked away from the mine and left all the machines and equipment at the end of the socialist period.Written July 19, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Reluctant ReviewerLondon, UK61 contributionsI dearly love this theatre in Ostrava. I go mainly to see opera, and I've rarely been disappointed. The building is beautiful and marvellous interiors. Comfortable seats. A wonderful experience!Written December 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Malin B16 contributionsI absolutely adore this park. It’s clean, well-kept (at least the first “half” — the second is wilder, I assume to benefit wildlife, which makes for a very nice contrast), and hosts a ton of benches throughout. There are plenty of walkways, some reserved for biking. I went running alongside the river, lounged in the hammock and listened to birdsong, dog-watched while sprawled on the grass. There’s the possibility to buy ice cream and food in the beginning of the park (by the Českobratrska “entrance”). If you’re going to Ostrava, the Komenskehy Sady Park is a must do!Written May 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Agata VPrague, Czech Republic116 contributionsInteresting excursion to coal mine and lecter about mine rescues. The tour in mine shows how people exploited coal in past and now. Rescue part is also interesting.Written November 19, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Joona STallinn, Estonia433 contributionsForget about the cafe, it is your average Joe - tiny, impossible to reach and in all the possible ways, nothing special. BUT, it has a view, "catwalk" outside the tower that are worth all the effort to get there. It is super complicated - you need a ticket, you need someone to come and pick you up (and take down as well), and the whole process takes time.
But then suddenly you are on top of Ostrava, in a ex coal and steel manufacturer in a super cool building. Enjoy the views, walk and the fact that the name, Bolt, comes from Usain Bolt himself.Written July 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are many different depths for all swimming abilities. You can bring towel, snacks, sunscreen and enjoy the day. It has bathrooms, some snack booths to purchase food. It was the best way to stay refreshed in the hot summer! It is only open in the summer. It's the main and liveliest street in Ostrava
Plenty of Bars a few Irish themed ones as well. Reasonable prices all round Variety of different food . It Was fairly quiet on the Wednesday and Thursday evening until 9 -10 O'clock them got a bit more lively. Apparently at the weekends it's Really busy.Written July 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - L_O_U_S11 contributionsWe've visited the place with our little kids many times. It's big enough, with a lot of models and there's always a lot to do and see. The only thing I'd change is the scientific part and the look of the models. It's been known for decades that dinosaurs - at least some of them - had feathers, but the guys behind the franchise don't seem to be up to date with science. Also, some of the descriptions contain mistakes.Written July 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
