- GrogSeattle, WA6 contributionsIf you plan to swim, be sure to check signs that indicate the level of bacteria in the water. It was at safe levels this time! We even went without a phone and it was so easy to navigate to from Brno city center. Just so nice to relax in the sun.Written August 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LukeBrno, Czech Republic10 contributionsObora Holedna in Brno city is great place for rest, walking, running with possibility to see fallow deers and other pretty animals. - Martin VPrague, Czech Republic306 contributionsBrno zoo is smaller among Czech/Moravian zoo, but its design will let you to spend there 3-4 enjoyable hours, if you enjoy walking up to the hill or back down. If not, you can use a little zoo train, but we preferred walking all the way. Our seven years old daughter was amused all the time and pancakes on the top filled the energy back. You can use tram, tickets can be purchased online or at the place. Note, that cards are not accepted on majority of refreshment spots inside the zoo, which is the most significant drawback. Also, the food selection is not inspired by healthy cuisine.Written July 18, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - UGM_BRNOBrno, Czech Republic3,357 contributionsThis place is 101 years young. There are trees that remember the beginning of the university garden in 1922 and there are new artefacts you could not see anywhere else. I love being surrounded with beauty natural and made by artists, sometimes I take a good book and read it sitting on a bench in this oasis in the middle of the city. There is a new fence around the garden catching your eyes and attracting you to enter. There is a low admission fee to enter the green houses, there is no admission , if you wish to relax in the garden. Have fun and be inspired.Written August 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AubrayBali, Indonesia293 contributionsWhether you’re planning a wedding, need help organizing a company meeting, want to learn more about ecology and environmental sciences,Open Garden is an excellent choice! This spot is super kid-friendly, great for an afternoon stroll, and is doing some really awesome things to help other Non-Profits in Czech Republic. The event manager Markéta is amazing and you can tell by her charisma that this place is also a reflection of the passionate people that make it thrive!Written October 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike CChula Vista, CA163 contributionsNew and very good place to take children for a few hours. Plenty of soft play climbing and slides. On site restaurant for coffee, lunch or refreshments. Have an indoor and outdoor area during summer. Would go again.Written October 10, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fra SProvince of Messina, Italy153 contributionsIf you like this kind of activities, the jungle park is a must. Located in the green close to other activities (acquapark, Vida science, etc), it is a bit complicated to find. If you have to pay with card, you need to go on the side of bauerova. By cash instead you can also access directly from the 'jungle' side, the forest, much more pleasant walk. Google location is a bit imprecise, you have to walk more than suggested, to find the exact spot in the forest.
Important for beginners: the basic path is already quite challenging, for kids and teenagers, especially if you do it whole. It can get crowded.Written July 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patricia M48 contributionsPhotos do not do justice to this building!!
This exquisite modernist house by Mies van der Rohe is not to be missed!. It is the only world heritage site in the Czech republic. It has been completed restored in 2012 and further restorations are underway in both the gardener's home at the bottom of the site and Mrs. Tudeghat's mother's house farther away in a garden below.
The modernist splendour of the site is much enhanced by learning of what it went through under the Nazis, the Communists, and now the EU - the latter significantly reponsible for its highly skilled current restoration.
Brno is now committed by bringing back to life some of the other modernist (functionalist) buildings which it has in large number. I visited the nearyby ERA cafe, a beautfully repurposed
small cafe in active use.
If you have room in your luggage, "Mies in Brno: The Tugenaht House" is a fine purchase.
Remember to book a tour in the language of your choice.
Definitely the finest modernist domestic building I have seen.Written October 19, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The most beautiful are the moments visitors can enjoy some particular flowers. It is ususally in May there is the exposition of irises. You can see the flowers both growing in several spots of the garden and arranged in fantastic decorations. One can become even happier to come with a friend to share feelings, the more we were happy to meet parents of my friend - the more the merrier! Do you know that the Mendel University owning this arboretum celebrates century this year? The student reunion is planned to happen this June. Happy reunion!Written May 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Irena HPrague, Czech Republic24 contributionsGreat idea - two electric grills with tables and seating in the middle of a city park next to a playground. That's everything you need for a nice afternoon. :) You can easily book the grill on the web and than you can go BBQ. In summer it's necessary to book the grill in advance, there is usually a big rush which only proves how popular these public grillpoints are. Great for a birthday party.Written August 3, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- macedonboyGlasgow, UK185,662 contributionsKoliste Park is a public park in the city just to the northern part of the city centre and also north of Moravské square. The park is a medium sized park, landscaped with promenade of trees, lots of plants and scrubs. The park is the location of many monuments of well known Czech personalities such as Leoš Janáček and Mrštík brothers. The mesmerising Framed Fountain can also be found in the park.
The park is worth a look if you're in the city centre as it's a nice place for a stroll with many places to sit and enjoy what's left of the summer.Written October 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
