It is historical and a significant landmark in Czech Republic’s long history. The 30 statues on the bridge had provided a reminder of the religious and political struggles throughout the country’s history.

A unique and impressive place with an interesting history. It gets crowded when the clock is about to chime, so arrive early if you want a good spot to see it.

West of the Vltava, you’ll find yourself in Mala Strana, a.k.a the Lesser Town. There’s so many GREATER things to do and see here, though…Petrin Park, Prague Castle, and St Vitus Cathedral to name a few. Strolling the historic streets could occupy you for hours on end. Don’t forget Vltava’s west while visiting Prague.

Very impressive! Definitely worth taking the time to go see it and get a few pictures in. It’s a short walk from the old town.

Hradcany is one of the old neighborhoods of Prague , and still today it has the architectural features of the old time ... historical buildings, palaces, churches, Strahov Monastery, hotels, pubs, restaurant, shops, all of these and more can be found in Hradcany.
The neighborhood is basically the area surrounding the Prague castle - although until the late 1700 is has a small town that was independent of Prague - and it became part of the city in the last years of the 1700's.
Walking the streets of this neighborhood can be very interesting, especially for those of you who are into history and architecture - but not only - it can be equally interesting for everybody who has a bit of interest in the Czech culture.
Overall a great place to walk and definitely worth the time spent here when in Prague - go for a walk in Hradcany.

Wallenstein Palace was built in 1630 for Albrecht von Wallenstein, who was the Duke of Mecklenburg and Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Forces during the Thirty Years’ War. Wallenstein only lived in it for one year before he was assassinated. It remained in the Wallenstein Family until 1945. After World War II, it housed various government offices. It’s now the home of the National Senate

This is a gorgeous church, both inside and out, located right at the Old Town Square. The twin spires and impressive architecture draw you in. The church also looks great from above with the view from the nearby tower.

The entrance was a bit hard to find. We actually walked all the way around the church looking for a way in, only to learn that you have to go down a narrow alley by the Italian cafe to find the front doors. But it was worth the search.

We stopped in to see the giant column of books, which is worth seeing. It’s free to enter. We arrived around 10am on a Wednesday and waited in line about 10 minutes. You can see it and take photos without waiting in line, but if you want to peer inside or get photos with nobody else in them, you’ll have to wait in line.

It is a wonderful place to spend a morning, afternoon, or the entire day while visiting Prauge. See the park, the church, the cemetery, and my favorite, go for a guided tour under the ramparts. Highly recommend.

As a space it’s not overly amazing. It’s is a wide boulevard flanked by old and new shops and hotels. At one end is the statue of Wenceslas where you can’t help but sing Good King Wenceslas… knowing he was not a king now! As a place of history it is memorising. The 1989 gathering must have been a sight. The Hotel Jalta looks out to the square. It’s a busy touristy spot and should be perused when visiting Prague as it contains a lot of history, recent and much older.

Construction began on the tower in 1357. It was built for two purposes: 1) to be a defense against possible invaders and 2) to be a symbolic arch of triumph through which Kings of Bohemia would pass on their way to the Prague Castle. Near the top of the tower are statues of King Charles IV at different ages, along with the coats of arms of the Holy Roman Empire and the Kingdom of Bohemia. At the top are statues of St. Adalbert and St. Sigismund of Burgundy.

Unique architecture with an eye-catching design. I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it, but it’s worth taking a look if you’re in the area.
