- Neil KLiverpool, UK614,638 contributionsWalking around Zizkov District is something I always love doing on any trip to Prague I take ,so many great pubs, bars and restaurants in this eclectic district, overlooking the wonderful district is this giant equestrian statue in honour of Jan Zizka who defeated the Catholic forces lead by Sigismund in the Battle Of Vitkov Hill in 1420 ,the statue was actually to honour of the fallen Czech legionaries who perished in World War One, its a fine ,well detailed statue constructed between 1928-1938, its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the Zizkov District and hard to miss ,its that big a statueWritten May 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ina G248 contributionsA must see in the Jewish neighborhood. It looked so quiet and romantic under the snow...Definitively book a tour of the whole Jewish QuarterWritten February 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bucky1836Madison, WI250 contributionsEntrance is just across the street from the Zelivskeho subway stop. Yes, Kafka's gravesite is here, but I would recommend strolling around other parts of the cemetery first to get some context. You'll notice how many markers and memorials have dates of death between 1939 and 1945. And then think how many more graves there would have been if so many hadn't been killed in camps during the Holocaust. Remember that this is closed from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning and men should cover their heads.Written June 17, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neil KLiverpool, UK614,638 contributionsAlong with Zizkov Television Tower ,Kostel Nejsvetejsiho Srdce Pane is one of the landmark buildings in this district of Prague.
Constructed between 1929-1932 from designs from architect Jozef Plecnik ,when I first visited this district nearly 30 years ago I thought this church building looked hideous but over the many years since I have grown so fond of this building,it's a fab looking building ,the standout feature is the clock tower,it's such an unusual looking church building that's most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate on Namesti Jiriho Z Podebrad.Written April 30, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The work of Jaroslav Hasek and Karolina Neprasova,it shows a the frame of a horse and the bust of a man,its very eye catching, very photogenic, its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Prokopovo Namesti.Written May 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a great looking church, plans were drew up in 1879 to construct a church dedicated to St Procopius ,a former dance hall building was converted into this church in 1903 with further alterations taking place between 1992-1997 to give us this amazing looking Gothic style church we see today,I love the look of this church, when illuminated at night it's an eye catching, very photogenic church building that's most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the Zizkov District and easy to locate along Sladkovskeho Namesti just off Seiftervova .Written May 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This monument features a bronze sculpture atop a pedestal. The pedestal is made of stone and is engraved with the world CHURCHILL. The sculpture of the made would not look out of place even in the UK. It depicts Churchill as an elderly man wearing a buttoned up long coat, with a grumpy look on his face. The sculpture also shows Churchill using a walking stick to support himself, clearing indicating the depiction of Churchill in his twilight years.
The monument is a little out of place opposite a Trade Union office, but sadly it’s also well away from the main tourist circuit, to the north east of Prague Central Station.Written October 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a place associated with the lectures of Jan Hus.Written May 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jana KPrague, Czech Republic390 contributionsYou'll love it here!!! So cool in the summer, it's a perfect hideaway from the city rustle and bustle, in the atmosphere of urban scenery with hammocks randomly placed here in there. It serves as an art venue for a number of concerts, exhibitions, festivals, outdoor movie screenings. Ultimate chill.Written February 9, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Neil KLiverpool, UK614,638 contributionsKarel Havlicek Borovsky was a famous poet, writer, critic, publisher and dramatist ,although he only lived till the age of 34 he left a lasting impression on the Czech literary world .
The statue is well detailed and shows this man in animated pose ,the little square is also cool and a nice tranquil area in a very popular locals district.
We were exploring around the Zizkov district of Prague which in my opinion is the most exciting district of Prague, great nightlife area and interesting architecture,we passed through this little square and took a few photos of the statue.
Easy to locate on Havlickovo Namesti and most definitely well worth checking out if your in the Zizkov district.Written April 19, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Winston Churchill Square is easy to locate on Namesti Winstona Churchilla ,its very close to FZ Viktoria Zizkov Football Ground, tram numbers 5.9.26.55.56 to stop Husinecka drops you off practically by the square.
Well worth checking out for the statue alone .Written April 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
