It does get very busy , but it is a must see in Prague. Lots of stunning buildings and architecture. Cafes are expensive though as you would expect.

View from the top of the bridge is amazing. This is a very beautiful bridge with incredible detail and art work.
It can be very crowded though so if you want good picks go early in the morning.

Great visit— here is some practical information:

We visited Saturday September 23, 2023. There were no lines at security as they were not checking bags— we just walked through past a policeman. This was true at both the main entrance and the entrance near Lobkowicz Palace.

At 9:45 AM at the Information Centre in the 3rd Courtyard, there was no line at all for tickets or audio guides or to pay for the group tour— so no need to buy tickets ahead of time (but you must reserve the group tour ahead of time— email them a week or more before you go). In fact, we regretted buying tickets ahead of time through Lobkowicz Palace, since that meant we had to pick up the tickets in person at Lobkowicz Palace, which did not open until 10:00 AM, and there was a fifteen minute line there! (And you can’t buy the audio guide without showing your ticket!).

The audio guide is very good, and gives you info on more than what is covered by the group tour (which covers the Cathedral and Old Royal Palace), so if you want the full experience get both. In fact our tour guide made a point of us not using our tickets to get into the Cathedral (tickets can only be used for one entry), so that we could come back later to look more on our own, which was great.

Lobkowicz Palace was excellent, with a great included audio guide— if you love history, don’t miss it! It may be a little quieter than the rest of the site, so maybe save it for the busiest part of the day. And be sure to spend time on the terrace at Lobkowicz Palace, enjoying the incredible view!

Golden Lane was ridiculously crowded in the middle of the day, a bit commercialized, and not too special (though I did enjoy the tiny torture chamber and dungeon 😀), so don’t worry if you miss it. There are several nice places to eat, including a cafe with a great view of the Cathedral.

Historic site high up near Prague Castle. You need to buy a ticket to visit all of the cathedral which I thought was not in the spirit of the religious nature of our visit ☹️

The clock is unique and interesting. We had its workings explained by Kaca on our walking tour. I probably didn’t understand it very well 😊

This part of the city is really magical. I think it is my favourite part of the city to walk through (and Prague is most probably my favourite city in Europe). The buildings are all picturesque, lined with red roofs. I could spend hours exploring here. Magic.

Amazing neighborhood around and below Prague Castle; the architecture and all the colors of the buildings is stunning. Just wandering around the town and looking at all the architectural designs are worth the trip to Prague.

Beautiful building, it is an architectural delight. It is a must see in Prague, one of the most impressive Art Nouveau building. Try to see it in the evening too, when is very colorful illuminated.

Much different from its larger relative up the hill, this is a much brighter and much more ornate church. different colors of marble, gold trim and many frescoes adorn the inside of this beauty. We came down the hill from the castle and the Cathedral and this was just a shocking change. This is much more reminiscent of many of the churches we saw in Italy versus what we’re typically seeing in the Germanic regions. A stunner of a church...if you’re into that sort of thing.

In the Castle complex, the Lobkowicz Palace has been turned into a museum. It’s a fairly nice palace, not at the top tier, though. The collection of paintings mainly includes pictures of the inhabitants through the centuries. If you read about them, it was a somewhat interesting history, but as artwork, well let’s just say after probably 40, 50 portraits, it’s gets a little tedious. The rest of the collection is pretty nice. We probably spent more time than we should have, but what made the visit truly worthwhile was the view of Prague from the balcony. Wow, spectacular is probably understated. I told the worker in the room where the balcony was attached that it was probably the best view of a city I ever saw. Her response, that’s what almost everyone says. We probably stayed gawking at that view for 15, maybe 20 minutes. Then we went down to the cafe balcony downstairs for a nice, but lesser view. If you go to the Castle complex and of course you will, then you really need to see the view, if not the museum. It’s trip malpractice not to.

Take the tram no 2 from the bridge Manesuv, you'll be rewarded with a pleasant journey along the Danube. Once you have reached your stop, it is a 15mns walk up to the hill, from which you will have a great view of the city and river.

The entrance fee is 180Cr and well worth it: the interior is spectactular!! It looks as if decorated by Mucha! From floor to ceiling, an explosion of art-deco colors and patterns: stunning!!

Because of its remote location, this monument is much less crowded than other parts of the city: very enjoyable!

Prague is a wonderful city to visit, its buildings are a mixture of old and new, some dating back many hundreds of years. Its main issue was too many tourists, many of whom are selfish and rude!!

We started our day of sightseeing by crossing the road from our hotel from where we started our climb to Petrin Tower. A lovely old park to start the day. You can reach the top via various ways and there are plenty of benches to take a break and enjoy stunning views over the city. When we reached the top, we climbed the Petrin Tower and then walk half down towards Novy Svet.

Petřín Gardens (Petřínské sady) is one of the largest urban green areas and its slopes are an oasis of calm in the center of Prague. The Rose Garden, or rosarium, at the top of Petrin Hill, Nebozízek Garden and the Seminary Garden with more than 2,100 fruit trees are particularly magical. The easiest way to reach the top of the hill is with the funicular. Petrín Lookout Tower is popular for its incredible views of the city and the mirror maze is an endless source of giggles. Walking paths crisscross the park and are lined with benches with great views; there are even several playgrounds here.

If you're in the main town square, it's hard to miss this place. What can be hard to miss is the way to the front door. On the east side of the town square is some restaurants in the buildings in front of the church. You have to go through the archways down the center to get to the alley and the door. Once inside, it's very beautiful. So different than the two large churches across the river. It's much more simple and well lit and a great stop for free when in old town.
