- scvroseFiddletown, CA1,305 contributionsA very pleasant and peaceful square in the middle of the old town. Lots to see and do here. We were lucky to catch the beginning of the Christmas Market and enjoyed several mulled wine. Plenty of restaurants and shops around the square as well.Written November 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - scvroseFiddletown, CA1,305 contributionsLocated on the main square near the cathedral, this monument is a sober reminder of how the plague devastated this town and many towns in Europe. - StanduManHastings on Hudson, NY205 contributionsHaving attended Catholic school as a child, I had to go see the Infant Jesus of Prague when visiting Prague. Unlike when I was a child, however, I read up on the statue before viewing it. It's a 16th century 19" high wooden statue covered in wax of unknown origin. Since its origin is unknown, legends about its creator, its owners, and its healing powers have emerged over the centuries. Anyway, back to the sight. The statue seems to attract two types of people. First are the faithful; they kneel before the statue to pray and contemplate. They are silent and reverential. Second are the tourists: they walk in, position themselves for a selfie in front of the statue, snap the selfie, and leave the church. They display no reverence and chat among themselves. I found the visitors more interesting than the diminutive statue.Written October 27, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jason CLondon, UK467 contributionsMore of a grand church. The other reviewer knew the history. Thanks 👍 I just admired the ornate golden Altar. It's ginormous. It would appear that iron gates are a regular thing in the churches here.Written December 23, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
