What travelers are saying
- Janine D62 contributionsThis is the main draw for Kutna Hora. We walked up from Sedlec, which was a good 20mins but the local bus can also be taken for Kc20.
The architecture is outstanding and the stained glass windows and various shrines/altars are very impressive. Climbing up to the gallery, you can get a different view of the grand organ and read the informative panels that detail the history and stages of building, as well as see out to appreciate the buttressing.
All in all, highly recommended.Written September 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Visited on our own and parked on the street. Had heard about this church that was called the bone church. Supposedly 40000 to 70000 souls are buried here and their bones decorate the basement. Supposedly the only one of its kind when there was about 500 church’s in Czech that kept bones as back then you could not burn the bones. - BobN06Avondale, PA721 contributionsGreat place to learn about the origin of Kutna Hora, the silver mines. Kutna Hora was once the regal center for the creation of coinage for the realm and was a city rivaling Prague in size. From the legend about their original discovery to the end of the mines the story is all here. There are some nice exhibits on silver mining under the town but the highlight is the walk through the silver mine that runs under the monastery.Written July 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MegProvidence, RI28 contributionsThe chocolate museum is a fun stop in Kutna Hora. The proprietor was really lovely to talk with and explained everything about the different chocolates we tried. It was both informative and delicious! Definitely recommend stopping in.Written October 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
