I’ve traveled a lot and have seen beautiful places, but this places takes the cake. Eye candy everywhere you look. The only negative is how rude the locals are to tourists. I go out of my way to be polite and not be the “ugly American tourist,” but they are so rude. I walked out of a few places because of it and they lost my business.

The Cesky Krumlov castle gardens are a treat. Had a morning outing up to the gardens with my sister for relax and catch-up. Gardens can be accessed either through the castle from the old town or a short drive via the back road. Between the well looked after gardens, maze, small forest walk and lake, there is enough variety for everyone. The small theatre palace is another must view with its revolving spectator seating. Small cafe at the bottom end of the garden helps with refreshments. Its a beautiful part of the castle precinct and worth a visit.

The latran houses along the banks of the river in Cesky Krumlov are definitely worth a visit. Once factories, mills and houses for upclass nobles, they’re now boutique shops, restaurants and hotels….but they still have kept their overall charm. The streets are cobbled, the river is rushing past and even the old water wheel is turning. Definitely a fun way to enjoy the afternoon after a visit to the castle.

We started in central Cesky Krumlov and walked uphill to the train station. From there it’s a moderately uphill climb on an asphalt road to the trailhead at the end of the road. Fairly straightforward to follow the green/white markings. At the top you have obstructed views so you have to pay to go up the tower for the best views. About 6 miles to the top. We decided to continue on to Holubov from Klet. Follow the rough trail that goes under the chairlift until you reach an asphalt trail that takes you down into the valley. Continue until you arrive at Holubov and work your way to the train station. There are close by cafes to kill time as you wait for the train. Eventually, board train for trip back to Cesky Krumlov. A perfect day trip!

Amazing views and what a gem of bridge building architecture! Best to be in town early in the season or late to avoid the masses. We came in May and could enjoy the bridge without being in a mad stampede.

More a shop than officially a museum but the selection of old furniture and equipment from shops around 100-150 years ago was really quite interesting. Learned that in the old days you bought your kerosene for your lamps at the grocers…. Not something we had been aware of up to now.

A very strange museum with hundreds of puppets collected by the friendly and chatty owner. Might freak out smaller children a bit but worth going to just for the strangeness of such a place.

Chances are your time is limited in the quaint and charming town of Cesky Krumlov, maybe as a day trip or just one night, and you just want to wander around, visit the castle, eat, and take lots of photos to make your friends and family jealous and envious.

If you're here for 2 nights like I was, this small Wax Museum provides a nice 30-60 minutes of entertainment value. Its also a good choice if its raining. There are some interesting reenactments of the old days of Cesky Krumlov and the Czech Republic, some political and historical figures whom I didn't know half of, and few obvious looking celebrities. Don't let the outside building deceive you, its much bigger inside than it looks. The museum was run by single bored looking young lady, but she was nice enough and I can't blame her for being so bored. 150CZK/$6.75 adult, or 100CZK/$4.50 for kids and students...seems about right.

Beautiful view over the town. The view in IGDRKf was worth a 5/5. However the experience was made Even better by small «historical facts” all through out the tower on the way up.

Worth a visit if you are in Cesky Krumlov

You will inevitably meander over this square at some stage of visiting town. Has some lovely old buildings which have been restored and a pretty central part with some benches to sit down and admire the facades.
