- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN6,458 contributionsYou will find as many locals as tourists at Vyšehrad Park. Vyšehrad is very meaningful to the Czech nation as it is the legendary location of first settlement in the city. A fortress was constructed here in the 10th century although little remains from that time. However, the Romanesque Rotunda of St Martin from the 11th century still stands. The Austrian Hapsburgs rebuilt a military fort here and the Tabor Gate and Leopold gate along the with the city walls can be seen. However, it is a beautiful green space and there are photogenic views of the Vltava River. This is also the site of the Neo-Gothic Basilica of St Peter and St Paul and the adjacent Vyšehrad Cemetary, which is the final resting place of many famous Czechs including composers Dvorak and Smetana and artist Mucha. You can reach Vyšehrad by taking the Metro. After visiting, you can descend the stairs to the Vyton neighborhood and catch a tram that runs along the river.Written October 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WWTraveller26Singapore, Singapore1,297 contributionsThe city has seen better days but it is still very charming and worth a visit, with or without Bond from location hunting. - Kristen TStuttgart, Germany777 contributionsMy husband and I enjoy visiting botanical gardens. Plus, we wanted to visit somewhere with our dog to tire her out. The Prague Botanical Garden checked both boxes for us. Because we visited in early October, there were not a lot of flowers in bloom, but we still enjoyed seeing the flower, plants and trees.Written October 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ra11 contributionsThis was a lovely half day out. When you get to the McDonald’s, walk a tiny bit down the ‘car road’ in front of it heading left and a few steps in you’ll see a path down the forest. We took the path and at the end of it saw a bistro with a lake. If you buy a few drinks or ice cream you can use their benches and facilities to swim in the lake. Don’t forget your swimsuit. After that we took a small stroll through a wonderful leafy path and caught another tram down the road..Written August 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AMIA778Seville, Spain1,607 contributionsI visited as a day-trip from Prague. I was blown away by how pretty the chateau/lake/park/view is. Footpath in good condition, lots of well-placed benches, a prefect park for picnic. This park is huge and easy to get lost in the forest. Be sure to grab a map at the ticket office, google map was useless. Beautiful Dendrological Garden nearby make a good combo visit. Both are reachable by bus from Prague metro station Opatov.Written August 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
