Interesting history of the lake and nice boardwalk across part of it. The first walk we found was the Coral Fern Walk, with a couple of segments.Written July 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul BChirnside Park, Australia1,122 contributionsReally a botanical park as just trees with no actual gardens. Toilets could be cleaned more regularly and not obvious how to get to.Written April 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Will A5 contributionsVisited after a bit of rain, and could still ride the pump track in the wet! Looking forward to going again when it's a bit drier. The map showing all the different bike parks in the area is very good too.Written November 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Damian A40 contributionsIf you’re in Moe or anywhere near the Latrobe Valley, the Latrobe Valley Model Railway Association is an absolute gem that you won’t want to miss! Visiting here felt like stepping into a whole new world, meticulously crafted with passion and incredible attention to detail.
The layouts are nothing short of spectacular, with an expansive array of landscapes, bustling towns, and winding train tracks that transport you into the heart of a miniature railway universe. Each section is packed with intricate details – from charming village scenes with colorful buildings and a quaint church, to industrial rail yards filled with vibrant tanker cars and cargo trains. The creators have even painted beautiful scenic backdrops of hills and forests, making the entire setup feel incredibly immersive.
One highlight was watching the classic steam locomotives and modern freight trains as they traveled through rugged terrain, over bridges, and through tunnels. The lighting, the carefully crafted greenery, and the lifelike model structures truly bring this railway to life, and it’s clear that the members of the association put a tremendous amount of time and love into every inch of the display.
The members themselves are friendly and enthusiastic, always ready to share the stories and techniques behind the layouts, making the visit even more memorable. This place isn’t just for railway enthusiasts – it’s a treat for families, hobbyists, and anyone who can appreciate the artistry and dedication that goes into such a creation.
I left feeling inspired and in awe of the level of craftsmanship on display. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique, heartwarming experience in the Latrobe Valley!Written October 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. So, it's great to see that these murals have been done by a Gippslander. The piece of work that stands out for me locally for Bechaz is not these ones oddly enough, but rather the the piece you can see if you are travelling on the train. When the train stops at Morwell, you will see the mural on the opposite side of the tracks and it's incredible.
So, the reason the stars rating is average here has everything to do with the inaccessibility of these murals. I parked at the Botanical Gardens with my daughter and followed the path across the little bridge and then under the busy road. You get really close to the first two and they are brilliant. But unless you want to cross a busy road and across a water soaked lawn... these two are the only ones you will get close to.
I did drive past these slowly on the way out, but still while you can see them from the road... they are not easy to view. Kudos to the artist though, the work is exceptional. I look forward to seeing more of his work in the area.Written November 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - C...Victoria, Australia92,432 contributionsI am always delighted when I arrive at a cemetery and see that it's picturesque... this cemetery is not only beautifully maintained but it has breath-taking views. Even though you are in the town of Moe... and I do mean in it...here you are surrounded by residential area... it is really quite lovely.
Whilst it's recognised from 1882 that was only when the government recognised it as a cemetery. There have been burials here before 1879.
Volunteers help maintain the area. It is located on a slope, so some care will be needed if you are using a mobility aid.
You will notice headstones of interest such as the one for Desmond John...who was accidentally killed on the 19th September, 1970 at the age of 21. And the Bell family that has many names on the headstone... one of those is Frederick who was killed in action in Gallipoli... or William who was killed on the Solomon Islands... and of course Rev. A.A.Bell.
And of course the cemetery also has a lone pine tree to remember the Gallipoli landing for the ANZACs.Written August 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
