What travelers are saying
- Thomas WSarpsborg, Norway348 contributionsCosy little miner town, where the buildings in the main street have been carefully taken care of. Today full of coffee shops, cafés, restaurants and tourist shops. Interesting miner history, also the chinese settlement. Well worth a couple of hours visit.Written July 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Thomas WSarpsborg, Norway348 contributionsFor a small town this museum is quite impressive. A much broader exhibition and more information than expected.Written July 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amanda CGold Coast, Australia1,662 contributionsAn interesting look into the history of the area and a sad take on the racism rife at the time.
These brave souls headed out from all they knew and loved in China to make their fortunes, with many never returning home.
Take the time to read the boards and really enjoy the recreation of Arrowtown’s gold rush era.
A lovely wander through a beautiful part of New ZealandWritten July 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The signs say it takes 2-3 hours but we walk faster and it was about 1hour and 40 minutes. Not too steep, no boggy parts, nice width and not dangerous. A must do!Written May 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Brady GMelbourne, Australia13 contributionsWe hired a couple of bikes to ride along the track next to the river and the guys are very friendly. We also took the tandem trailer bike for our 4 yr old so we didnt have to worry about him getting too tired. Unfortunatley I was a little out of shape and didnt get as far as I wouyld have like to have but they will come pick you up so you dont have to wheel your bikes back.Written December 13, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert T54 contributionsWe actually managed to combine Tobin Drop and Tobin Track to do a beautiful circular walk. We also did it the hard way! We walked along the Arrowtown Millennium Walk out of Arrow Town ignoring the signs to Tobin's Track but carrying on. after a few kilometres you come across a sign for "Tobins Drop, which takes you straight up the hill and I mean straight up the hill, it is tough climb for about 30 minutes but the views are well worth the effort. Once you get to the top you have great views looking down on Arrowtown you can also see the Crown Ranges and Queenstown in the distance. We then took the far gentle Tobin Track back into ArrowtownWritten July 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Craig MQueenstown, New Zealand2 contributionsGreat walk. With beautiful views of the surrounding areas like Queenstown, arrow town and the Gibbston region. Little bit challenging at stages but a great walk. Highly RecommendWritten March 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Val063New Zealand44 contributionsIf you're not an intrepid trekker or big track walker, go walking the Bush Creek Trail. Park your car in the car park below the Arrowtown shops and walk alongside the bubbling creek amongst the trees. Take a picnic, or some yummy food from the Bakery, and enjoy the peace.Written March 21, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patti PPlymouth, CA15 contributionsThis was one of the smartest things we did in our four-day visit to Queenstown. Wanted to ride out to the wineries but dealing with the Q'town traffic, finding all-day parking, getting shuttled in a van out to Arrowtown, all before beginning our ride just didn't sound like fun. Voila! Arrowtown Bike Hire was pushing the easy button.
We were e-bike novices but Adin and crew were great to work with and provided excellent bikes. If you want to stop at a winery or eat along the way, I'd definitely recommend a full-day hire. Our six-hour adventure was the most beautiful, most fun bike ride we've ever done. LOVE the e-bikes and highly recommend Arrowtown Bike Hire!Written March 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A great walking track that gives a taste of the high country hereabouts. Every visit to Arrowtown, we like to get back up in the hills for another look. Stout footwear, appropriate layers and shells. Carry for contingencies. Some fitness required, as is good route finding skills - a few years back, one of us came across a young couple who had taken a careless path down the wrong spur. Unless you are confident and capable, avoid if misted in.Written February 14, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NellSunshineCoastSunshine Coast40 contributionsWhat a great find in Arrowtown. A quaint heritage cinema, and a cosy verandah overlooking downtown arrowtown and the mountains behind. A little confusing to find, but lucky we did.
Clem the manager was amazing and very knowledgeable on the local wines, we trusted him to choose forus and we weren't disappointed. Eve was running the little gin bar on the deck which is a wonderful addition to the cinema complex. We had a fabulous day there.Written April 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I noticed that there was a lookout with great views of Arrowtown.
The memorial was in honour of those who lost their lives in the Great War (WW1) 1914 to 1918.
Well worth the short detour from the main town.Written January 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
