Easy ski is a great way to get to Cardrona without the stress of driving. Our driver Laura grew up in the region and her experience and knowledge of the history was very insightful. She made the trip interesting and entertaining. Hotel pick up made the trip very easy and I recommended highly to anyone! If you get Laura as you driver you will also learn about the area which was pretty cool!

    1) The shuttle runs between Queenstown airport and the town centre at $10 per journey. It has stop at Frankton too.

    2) GoCard is similar to Oyster Card in London. You top up the card and the bus fare is deducted from it. With GoCard, the airport journey is only $2, and so are the buses to Frankton, Arrowtown etc. You buy the card at $10, but the full amount can be used for all the bus rides afterwards.

    3) Small comfortable van for the Queenstown-Wanaka line, $35 for one way, $65 for return ticket. The van stops at Cromwell as well.

Trying to get the bus to the airport from Franklin Road on a Wednesday at 3.20. The bus stop on council website still had the old location which was actually closed for long term roadworks. Luckily Google was in the know. The temporary bus stop had no shade or seating. The first bus for 3.26 did not show up, the next bus for 3.56 arrived 10 minutes late and was full, did not let us get on (there was standing room, but presumably they’ve got a rule that if there’s no seat it’s full). After waiting an hour in the sun and needing to get to the airport we gave up and got an Uber for $32. Disappointing experience, puts you off public transport.
