Tours arranged by our cruise ship did only one thing or the other — a visit to the albatross colony OR the castle OR downtown Dunedin, but to us, the advantage of arranging a private tour is clear.
We took a two hour trip up to Larnach Castle, and she was so knowledgeable on the history of New Zealand, stopped at all the incredible view points, and even had water for us in her car.
