- Szerenke Z8 contributionsOur second time to the Mint. Very informative and never boring. Always great insight into our history of gold. The gold pour is fantastic too. - westy54Sydney, Australia8,911 contributionsThe State War Memorial commemorates those Western Australian service men and women who died in service or were killed in action in all wars or conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The memorial was dedicated in 1929.
It is situated on top of the Kings Park escarpment overlooking the Perth city skyline and the Swan River. One of the main features of the memorial is an 18 metre high obelisk which sits atop a concrete and brick crypt, the walls of which, inside and outside, are covered with a Roll of Honour listing the names of West Australians killed in all conflicts.
Other features of this solemn memorial precinct are The Court of Contemplation, the Flame of Remembrance and the Pool of Reflection.

- westy54Sydney, Australia8,911 contributionsThe original western half of the Cathedral was built from 1863 to 1865 in a Norman Gothic style with two porches and a spire being added in 1905 adding to its Gothic style. The Cathedral was enlarged during the period from 1926 to 1930 with the construction of the eastern half, however, due to financial restrictions resulting from the Great Depression, many of the original design features were not completed. The two halves had been joined during this time with the original Cathedral, less its sanctuary, being retained as the nave for the expanded Cathedral. It appears though that many thought the joining was not done well and that the Cathedral was incomplete.
The third construction phase from 2006 to 2009 resulted in major restructuring and restoration works being undertaken that included moving the Sanctuary to the centre of the Cathedral, building a new crypt, increased seating capacity, a choir room, an under croft car park and a second spire.
The result is quite lovely with lots of natural light flowing into the centre of the Cathedral and it having a very modern feel and look about it.
There are some beautiful paintings and stained glass windows.

The golden hours at the start and end of the day are special with the reflections off the buildings. Perth is a beautiful city, and fortunately it is not overwhelming in size or busyness.Written April 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TWal1Canberra, Australia2,698 contributionsThis is an impressive pedestrian bridge with a wave inspired design adding a level of funkiness to the structure. The bridge is in harmony with its environment and is enjoyed by most people, particularly children. The views over South Perth and the old Swan Brewery are very good. Check it out!Written February 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stephen CWollongong, Australia758 contributionsWe popped into the cathedral on route to CBD and were fortunate to be present whilst one of the local girl schools were rehearsing and practicing some hymns. The cathedral is just beautiful both inside and out and presents you with some appreciation of the skills of the workforce responsible for its construction and maintenance.

- TWal1Canberra, Australia2,698 contributionsThis is an iconic street in the Perth CBD. It runs parallel to the Swan River and links the western and eastern part of the city.
