A tour of Queen Victoria Market is an experience in itself and an awesome way to get a peek into the lifestyle of Australians. The market, with over 600 small businesses operating from its premises, and in existence for more than 140 years, offers you a variety of products for purchase, and, in the bargain, a great opportunity for people watching and getting a pulse of / peek into the daily life of Australians.

It’s not just fruit and vege. The French baker here is incredible. Many different food options here from different nationalities ready to eat. Including a Intl bottle shop......it’s a must visit.

This market was a joy to visit. There was great range of stalls where we were able to buy fresh pasta, meats, cheeses, fruit and vegetables. We also bought fresh pastries and filled rolls. We will definitely revisit when we are next in Melbourne.

Although some shops come and go, there is always a good selection at DFO. Focused on ladies fashion this time around and there were some bargains.

A group of unusually designed architecture which offers a lot of photo opportunities. There is a gallery, two museums, a restaurant. And in the middle of this, an open plaza where one can just hang out.

Beautiful architecture that is well preserved. The skylight adds on to the ambience of the place, making it bright and airy.

Not much of a shopper myself. Most of the shops don’t attract me except for some major sports apparels shops. From the malls I have walked through, think I am not that far from the mark. I think.

There’s also a bookshop by the name of Readings. Quite big.

This is the true 'central point' of the Melbourne Central Business District, with the highlight being the iconic Myer Melbourne flagship department store that is on six levels (seven when Santaland is open pre-Christmas).

Myer has a huge range (including sports equipment and clothing in the basement) of homewares, kitchen and entertainment equipment, ladies', mens' and children's clothing plus on the ground floor, a beauty section that will please most women.

It often has sales but even outside of this it stocks items no one else does, and prices are fine. There are also two cafes within Myer.

There's a Priceline opposite, and Swanston, Bourke and Elizabeth St trams serve the Mall.

Not much of a shopper myself so what I like about here is that there is not ouch crowd here, even on a Saturday, and that there is a food court and other sitting areas - good for me to utilize my data plan while the wife is shopping. It is conveniently located at Southern Cross Train Station.

I have been going to every myer windows since 2009 (Olivia helps with Christmas) and I can not say how much the whole window tradition played a big role in my childhood. The Myer windows are among the worlds greatest Christmas windows displays in the world. In recent years the windows have not been very christmasy and a few years the story seems to be the same (2015 and 2016) and the last 2 years they didnt even do a book. I am worried though this is starting to go downhill

My wife and I visited this place to admire the architecture of the magnificent building. During the 1980's we had been inside here when it was the General Post Office of Melbourne.

Currently, it is occupied as a large retail store by H & M. We walked up the stairs to view the building from the second floor.

David Jones is one of Australia's large department stores. It is not cheap and it's probably better for those with the patience of a saint, as it takes a fairly long time to be served. They do have some really lovely things for sale and it is worth visiting, and hopefully when you go there next time you may be luckier than us.

Home to a number of excellent eateries including brew houses, Asian restaurants or places to go for high tea. A good place to visit to experience a cruise on the Yarra as well. If you exit out side way it offers excellent views of eureka tower
