What travelers are saying
- EssentialnessAustralia168 contributionsStunning view on a clear day! Very enjoyable to walk around and cast eyes across mountains, harbours and islands. Hands down toilets with the best view in the world!
We hired a car for the day and took the drive, was well worth it and would recommend. We had great weather! If we had more time we would also engage with the more of the many walks from the rest area and coffee stall part way up to the summit. A cafe 'Lost Freight' perfectly situated for a hot chocolate or coffee on your way up and for some of the small walks.Written May 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Rhonda H3 contributionsWe had l lovely lunch and then we stay on for tea. The staff atmosphere was lovely. Thank you for the delicious chocolate parfait 💕Written January 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Nanette T26 contributionsA great market with predominantly Aussie made items. There also seems to be imported souvenirs and a lot of local produce such as oils, gin, lavender and wool.
A single purchase of a leather belt was pleasing, however it was not cheap but stall holders had a real passion for their goods on a very cold day. A long day for them with stalls packing up around 3pm.
Well worth a visit.Written May 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - EssentialnessAustralia168 contributionsReally great location for a walk. We used this as a break from activities. Easily accessed from CBD by walking or scooter. Enjoyed the stroll through the lovingly kept gardens. Perfect weather for us!Written May 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kathy LSydney, Australia601 contributionsWe booked on the Posh Pit and it was great. The food on both journeys was delicious and bar staff topped the drinks up as much as possible in the short journey. Great way to arrive at MONA and enjoy Hobart from the water.Written May 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- BonnyBelieverGreater Sydney, Australia74 contributionsSome fabulous exhibits, with such wonderful detailed explanations.
It’s obviously a much loved Tasmanian institution.
The staff were lovely and it was a very relaxing and worthwhile experience.
Everything from a Tasmanian tiger, an Antarctic exhibit, complete with albatrosses, Aboriginal exhibits including a replica of a hut, artworks which were lovely, and much more.
So much better than the super hyped MONA.Written May 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Dhananjay5317 contributionsWe did a guided tour and followed by an artist acting out 6 real persons from the factory (really a horrible prison for females)
Both performance were very moving and brought home the inhuman conditions experienced by the "convicts" transported to Australia, especially Tasmania. But it was not just doom and gloom. These stories can help to heal & appreciate what Australia was like in early 1800s.
Highly recommended.Written May 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Pippa8 contributionsLovely place to admire some old boats and have a peek at where to dine for dinner as there are many restaurants around this area.Written May 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jxn04162 contributionsWe had an awesome afternoon calling in for a tasting. Welcomed by very friendly staff and shown to a comfortable lounge to have a tasting. The staff was very knowledgeable and gave us a thorough description on each whisky and the background of Lark. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxing enjoyable time with a great range of whisky to try.Written May 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- oatsandcheesecakeBrisbane, Australia362 contributionsHaving been to Salamanca the day before, I found that farm gate markets were much better for food than Salamanca was, but without the jewellery, leather goods, timber displays etc. A foodie’s dream but make sure you’ve got space in your hand luggage to bring all the delicious things home with you!Written May 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Pippa8 contributionsWell worth the drive. Very warm day in Hobart but up the mountain was pretty cold and windy so take warm clothing with you.Written May 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ross HWarwick, Australia2,101 contributionsGreat activity on a cold wet day in Hobart. Super interesting and cheap too. Gentle walk up from the docks to the CBDWritten May 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- leannetmccullockKyogle, Australia41 contributionsApart from walking along The Derwent River, venture up into the streets of Sandy Bay. The homes and gardens will amaze you. The eatery's throughout Sandy Bay are varied but from my experience all have awesome food.Written March 16, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- R BenaMelbourne, Australia91 contributionsShort walk after Salamanca stroll. Basically aiming the end of the street to see the stunning water and mountain across for photo taking then walk back pass the gorgeous park with lots of people on the grass reading books chilling. Nice garden with toilet.Written March 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SydneyBekSydney146 contributionsWow - what an amazing experience! It was such a beautiful house and Amanda (our guide) made it come alive with all of the stories of the residents and quirky facts about the former occupants and some of the artefacts in the house. Even our teenage kids loved it! This has truly been a highlight of our travels around Tasmania! I’d highly recommend it to everyone and it was very reasonably priced.Written April 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
