- Alan MGympie, Australia794 contributionsMade a special visit from the sticks to see the AIR exhibit &, as members, collect our free tote bags, very bling!!
We had already bought the "book of the film" on line so had an idea of the exhibits but I think the show stopper was the infinity feather installation which originally appeared at an APT exhibit some years ago before being acquired by GOMA.
As usual very well curated, however, there were no bean bags under the spheres as shown in the book, I just had to lay on the floor!
Incidentally, the Childrens area was focused around Torres Strait art & should be a must for any parent to use as very interactive.
After that popped over to the Members Lounge at QAG for a refreshing cuppa, another perk of membership, so, enroll today.Written March 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Enjoyed seeing the historical works - national (e.g. Brisbane River in colonial times) and international. Also some way out there contemporary works. Particularly liked the Japanese exhibits such as the historical screens and ceramics (with a comparison to early 1900s Lalique glassware). Admire the 1903 painting Under the Jacaranda. Free entry. Includes gift shop.Written February 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- WorldTravla7Cairns, Australia5,933 contributionsI studied & worked at QUT from 2006 to 2012 and visited the Art Museum many times. I recently came back as a patron (still free entry!) and not a lot has changed in over 10 years (same space, layout etc). It’s a small contemporary art gallery that has some interesting work (internally curated exhibitions, commissioned projects, touring exhibitions). Traditional art you will not find as it leans towards edgier post-modern art (sculptures/installation art, use of multimedia, etc). It’s right opposite the Botanic Gardens and a convenient stop off while exploring the city.Written May 17, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DEK_29Brisbane, Australia1,087 contributionsThis is a one of a number of small museums that are tucked away at UQ. There is one at the Ancient History/archaeology faculty. This one features Australian and pacific cultural displays and items. Worthwhile to have look at and visit. I feel that it should be advertised more so that more people would know about this museum.Written February 27, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
