What travelers are saying
- CasaHoffaGreenwich Village, NY11,340 contributionsOne of the most important places to visit is the Capilla (Chapel) in Santa Cruz. This is a major pilgrimage site in Mexico (and the world).
Huatulco means "the place where people worship trees" per the miracle of the Sainted Cross (Santa Cruz). Legend has it that when the Spanish came to the area now called Santa Cruz they found the indigenous people praying to a tree in the shape of the Cross. The current day Chapel there notes the story. Evidently, relics of the original tree are in the Santa Cruz Chapel, the Cathedral in Mexico City as well as in the Vatican.Written October 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NanaimoNanaNanaimo, Canada12 contributionsThe quality of rugs and tablecloths is exceptional as is the service in this store. If we are looking for Oaxacan Handicrafts this store is usually our first stop . The staff are very knowledgeable regarding the history of the handcrafts sold in the storeWritten March 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony DWinnipeg, Canada25 contributionsAfter not playing Las Parotas since 2017, it was better than I remembered it. The course was in superb shape. It is one of my favourite courses in Mexico.
Not only was the course in excellent shape, but they re-did the driving range so it now first class. The electric power carts are also newer. The beverages are included with your fee and the cart person shows up with whatever you need.
I could play this course every day and still be challenged.
Ask the caddies about the “extra” hole on #10. Found it this year and even though I didn’t play it, it looks like it would be awesome.Written February 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Anything you chose off the menu is exceptional. - Bruce LRoberts Creek, Canada1,632 contributionsWe returned after a 2 year "Covid 19" ban on travel this year and were delighted to see this market continues to offer a venue for the public to purchase various items here in the square. We brought home delicious coffee bean, hand made soaps, yummy mango spreads to bring home for gifts. The vendors are so friendly and it feels good to support the local community. Enjoy.Written February 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jay TSan Diego, CA10 contributionsWe felt safe riding the bikes throughout the area. There was a guide at the front and one at the back plus a truck to slow traffic and assist when we needed to cross the road. The truck also carried water and any gear we wanted with us. We visited the town, a church, and a beach for a brief swim. The ride was rather easy except for a early hill. The guides were friendly and courteous. I would recommend this tour.Written May 1, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- han102016Lincoln, NE266 contributionsMy husband and I went here during our honeymoon and had a really nice time. We went for the complete package with the Temazcal, mud bath, and massage. The Temazcal is definitely worth experiencing - so unique! We both had good, but not great massages. This was a fun experience for us and I'd recommend it for those up for trying something new.Written January 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan H17 contributionsThis restaurant was across the street from Marina Park Plaza where we stayed. It was an excellent find. We had been here for 3 days and my husband could not find any decent Mezcal, but then we stumbled upon La Mezcala. Amazing selection of Mezcal joven. What they have in their bar is legit. All trued unadulterated, not aged Mezcal. And it is good according to my husband. And the Tlayudas are pretty awesome too! Try the Scencillo (simple) kind with only onions, beans and cabbage. So yummy!
The atmosphere is kinda club like so if you aren’t into that, order Tlayudas to go and sip a Mezcal while you are waiting outside! We were in touch with him before we even left for our trip via WhatsApp, booking our private tour of the bays and beaches of Huatulco. When we had to reschedule our day, Tico was happy to accommodate us. He sent us directions to the marina and a map showing where his boat was docked. Tico even met us in the parking lot, showed us where to park and took our friends for snorkel gear fitting. The boat was beautiful, safe, clean and stocked with water, soda and beer for us. Danny, Tico's son, was a very helpful first mate! They first took us out to deeper water where we encountered many bottlenose dolphins, sea turtles and even several stingrays that jumped out of the water and seemed to "fly" alongside the boat. Amazing! The water was so clear, the many bays were beautiful, and the rock formations were like nothing I have ever seen before. Danny stayed with my husband and I while Tico took our friends deep water snorkeling. They were thrilled with everything they saw and were impressed with Tico's knowledge of all of the fish and sea creatures. Tico and Danny's English is excellent. They are both very respectful of the environment and strive to protect its beauty and the wildlife that live there. While our friends were snorkeling at the second stop, a pelican landed next to the boat. I noticed that it had a fishing hook and line stuck in his bill. Danny tried very hard to get the bird over to the boat so he could try to remove the hook, but unfortunately the bird never got close enough. While our friends snorkeled in deep water with Tico, Danny took us to shallow water for a swim and snorkeling. They also arranged for us to stop at a restaurant at one of the beaches. We had a wonderful meal. Our boat tour continued along the National Park. Tico pointed out which beaches could be accessed by land so we could return later in the week. Where my husband and I live it is very flat, so we were impressed by all of the beautiful rock formations. Tico even took us to see this amazing natural "blow hole". We were able to sit and watch it from the boat. Our day long tour was memorable thanks to Tico and Danny. When we return to Huatulco, we will happily book another tour with them.Written April 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John SBellevue, WA763 contributionsWe dived for 2 days with Alejandro and his sons. We had a great experience. Alejandro is an excellent dive master. He is passionate about diving and conscientious about the environment. He knows the sites incredibly well and spots lots of interesting marine life. His boys were super helpful and took great care to make sure we were comfortable. All the gear was in great shape.Written April 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
