A visit in Triora is always a nice experience. The history of the village is so intriguing, that the visitor wishes to learn as much as possible about it. A good place to get a lot of information is the Museum of Ethnography and Witchcraft in the village. It has a large collection of local material, including information about the fate of the "Triora Witches" in the 16th century.

If you are lucky enough to meet Cicin he will gladly take you for a visit to the old frantoio as well as ethnographic museum he personally put together during the years. But don’t forget to taste the superlative extra virgin olive oil he produces along other delicacies. He’ll probably offer you a “goto”, glass in local dialect: of wine, of course!

This museum is very good value at €2 entry fee. Fascinating collection of local crafts, wildlife and archeological finds. You could spend an hour here.

As a group of 4, we were drawn to this lovely museum by its beautiful exterior. After some initial language problems with a charming lady on the desk, who spoke no English and spoke a little too quickly for my poor Italian, we gained entry and found it fascinating. Most of the descriptions were in the native Italian and would have benefitted from translations into other languages, however a very helpful member of staff, with better English than my Italian, explained some of the displays to us and showed us where multi-language laminated cards were stored in each room. 2 floors of displays were open and the view from the balcony at the front of the museum gave some wonderful views across the coastline.
The museum not only informed about the local area but also the main players, as well as exhibits recovered from an ancient galleon.
Well worth taking some restful time out to visit and thank you to the lovely gent on the upper floor who spent time explaining what we were seeing.

Unique art made by a wide verity of Italian artists, a surprising quality for a small museum in a small town ! A real gem. Unfortunately only open on weekends , and only in the summer
