- Ferran BSitges, Spain147 contributionsImpressive visit, just walk around. Go down stairs to the Neptune cave and enjoy the views of the cliffs and the ocean.
Beautiful views.Written September 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's about an hour ride each way and the tour takes about 45 minutes. The water at the cave is amazingly blue and clear. Once you get in the cave, you purchase a ticket for the cave tour. The cave itself is gorgeous and well worth the time and money.
The only problem with the tour is there are too many people in the group. We were near the back of the line and found it difficult to know what she was talking about. The other problem is people stop to take pictures and that holds up the line as well.
In addition to taking the boat, you can drive if you have a car and use the steps to get to the cave, however there are over 600 steps. Going down the steps will be easy, but climbing back up... not so much.Written October 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are two ways how to reach the caves. On foot and via boat. We chose the toughest one which is on foot.
Booking is advised since there are limited places available per slot. Booking is however easy on the website. You can then pay at the entrance. You can also try your luck by turning up at the entrance and hope that there are empty spots available but this is not recommended because you are not guaranteed a spot and there is the risk of staying in the sun for quite some time.
One other thing before booking is to check the weather forecast irrispective of whether one is planning to visit the cave on foot or via boat. I suspect that if the sea is rough then the boats might not operate. Nevertheless going on foot in bad weather can be tricky as well.
To reach the caves on foot means descending a flight of about 600 steps that are cut in the rocks. There are some tricky parts but one cannot say that it is dangerous.
Down in the cave you basically wait for the guide which will take you for a 45 minute guided tour inside the cave. Since the pathways are narrow one has to walk in a single file and it can get a bit crowded. There are some places where you have to bend a bit so people with mobility issues should avoid it. There are also some slippery bits and one needs to be careful.
The cave per se is well lighted and consists of a vast number of stalactite formations.
Going up is not easy although there are ample places when one can rest. We went with a 5 year old daughter who needed to be lifted up on the way up but thats part of the adventure.
All in all something worth doing once whilst in the Alghero region.Written September 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The guide was very knowledgeable and it fit perfectly in our tour of the very beautiful village of Ozieri.Written August 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kurtzman84Cagliari, Italy5 contributionsWe got the Bus from Alghero and we met with Giancarlo at Capo Caccia. Giancarlo told us how to reach the place and when we got there we got there we met Giancarlo, he is a Local Friend of Guide Me Right...a nice service that we discover in Sardinia and that is available all around Italy...very nice! The walk was not hard at all but the scenery at the end of it was amazing. We ate the lunch we brought with us and we had a good time with Giancarlo, his girlfriend and the other people with us. it has been a great day!Written July 28, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
