- KarenM1_10Bloomfield Hills, Michigan900 contributionsWe stopped here on our cruise ship. This was my favorite port in the Amazon. We had visions of visiting the Amazon when we booked our cruise and were surprised that the most ports were large, populated cities. Not here! We had to tender from our ship and docked at the beach where we had to walk through the sand to get to a walking path. Immediately outside the dock area is a good-sized market with several touristy shops (with items made by the locals) that had some nice quality clothes. They did not have a lot of sights to see in this area but there were several restaurants/cafes. By the dock, the locals were offering a boat ride for $10 per person. We were not planning to do this; however, we ran into some fellow passengers that mentioned that it was worthwhile doing. We decided to do the motorized boat that had a cover since the skies were looking a little gray when we arrived. The boat was small (could seat 8 people), which allowed us to enter the smaller canals that you could not view from the ship. Interestingly, these canals contained many homes, as well as some restaurants. It was a wonderful trip that lasted around an hour, and I would recommend it. When we were leaving, our boat driver went to the beach area where there were also some additional restaurants on a nice sandy beach. If we had more time, it would have been nice to get off and grab a quick bite or have a beverage, but we were only in port for a short period of time. I would recommend coming here or if you are on a cruise ship and get off early to explore and enjoy this area.Written May 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bruno MLittle Rock, AR133 contributionsOn our way back from the day's adventures, we stopped there to admire the sunset at the Cururu's point. It was a beautiful experience underrated only by some people who decide to disturb the peace of that wonderful place with high volume music (it was Saturday, and people already had warned us that it could happen)
I suggest you go on weekdays to get the maximum of your experience.

- gilmar fernandes silvaSantarem, PA10 contributions110 m high and 2km to get there. Hiking 40 min, about 20 min flat area and 20 min a little steep. It worth a shot. Over there wonderful view of alter do Chao village, love island, lakes, forests,… around there.Written March 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gina SMt Airy NC624 contributionsThis will not help you to cool off. It is a very modest church on the square. There are a few stores surrounding it. We sat beside tiny tents selling beer, under the few trees.Written January 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - silviacampinasSorocaba, SP23 contributionsIt is a big shop with craftwork from many different tribes. They also have craftwork from the communities from the region, like straw baskets.
The quality is good, but the price is very high (sometimes the double).
I think that if you are interested to buy straw baskets for example a good tip is to visit Urucureá by the Arapiuns river. The baskets are done with tucumã straw, excellent quality and you by directly from the community. As a example, with R$30,00 you can by a shalow basket about 30 cm diameter. You can also add a visit to the community Coroca where you can see a Chelonio (turtle) breeding, and buy honey from the region. It worth the ride.Written July 19, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It turns out that not only Karlos is an amazing host who makes you feel totally welcome from the moment you set foot on his boat (you can tell it's not just a boat but his home you are entering), he is also extremely knowledgeable and totally accommodating to your needs.
Unlike other tour operators you can entirely customize your trip when travelling with him. He takes great pride in listening to what it is you would like out of your trip and organise it accordingly.
Totally recommended! Enjoyed it thoroughly. Too bad we only did day trips. Totally worth your while to sleep on board and go on longer trips. No better way to explore the area!Written September 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
