Paths are well kept although there are a lot of steps but the beauty of the walls, the freshness in the air, the roaring of the water makes it all worth while.
There is a beautiful walk that includes quite a few steps but the effort is absolutely well worth the effort.

The statues and garden decor makes it fun for all ages and the lookout is so worth the climb (stairway to heaven) Will continue to come back & defo recommend to others!
We went with friends and family and had a wonderful time exploring the meandering paths, finding the children's nursery rhyme characters and enjoying the lovely gardens.

There are many paths to choose from, although the track to the summit is the focus.
The park reopened in April 2017 after cutting all the trees and replanting small starter trees.

Consult the summertime schedule of cruise dockings in Tauranga (a very popular port in New Zealand); it's a great occasion to marry up to your picnic at the Mount - viewing one of those majestic vessels oceanward-ho!
You can amble, you can run, you can picnic, take the grandkids, you can watch the tides, boats, you can just relax and enjoy, and at the end there are cafes etc for your relaxational end game.

Near the junction of Old Station Rd and Ohakune Mountain Rd (OMR), take the road track that goes under the railway bridge, northwards, and immediately parallel to the river and OMR.
A few mild climbs, a deep cave, a swimming hole, but mostly large trees and ferns keeping you cool and sheltered.
