This was a nice memorial to the Czech plague victims. Very elaborate sculptures around the entire perimeter. It's even more impressive at night when lit up.

We got a cab here, about 25 minutes drive from Olomouc. We visited with another couple. We had an interesting tour of the castle. As we are English we were given guide booklets describing the different areas of the castle as the guide was only able to narrate in her own tongue. The guide booklet was good but it was frustrating when the guide couldn't answer questions...

A beautifull cathedral that is poetic and inspiring. I loved photos that were taken when there was still corona, they hung them inside - the photos show people believing in it getting better and wanting to feel closer to god even though it was difficult-. The cathedral is a beautiful place and an old mister that was so generous to show us this place, explained the history of this place. Beautiful visit.

Stopped off in town for a couple of hours. Was in town square at noon when this clock started announcing the hours. I understand that this clock was built (?) in 1954, which explains the line of different workers who parade outside the building, not behind glass windows like Prague. This display went on for about six (6) minutes. At the end a cock crows and the show is over. I found it entertaining but a bit boring and did laugh at the crowing as to me it was unexpected.

Dominating the upper town square, this building has been spectacularly renovated. It has been well worth the wait.

Beautiful architecture and so important historically.

Immediately after purchasing the ticket, the guide said that Helfštýn Castle is one of the largest in Europe. During the tour, each visitor confirmed this. The castle is beautiful, about seven centuries old. The blacksmith decoration is beautiful.

This church is huge and the decoration inside is stunning. Built on top of a hill overlooking the valley and Olomouc you can look back and see the pilgrim road. The church is more a cathedral in size and beauty. Well worth a visit.

St. Moritz is the most sympathetic church in Olomouc. On the one hand with its simple exterior, on the other hand with its viewing platform at the top. Inside is the organ of the best sound in the whole Czech Republic. Come to Mass and listen to this organ.

I liked this new fountain, which was created in 2002 as part of the reconstruction of the Upper Square. Especially two big turtles were very nice. One of them was situated in the water, but the second one was located next to the fountain, much to the delight of children that could climb or sat on it. There were quite a lot of benches around and people sat there, relaxed and enjoyed watching the fountain.

As a barock church it is very impressive. The inner decoration is really very nice as usual in barck churches.

If you are nearby, it is worth to see this castle. Looks very nice and gives a great panoramic view of the city and nearby area.

Amazing industrial piece of human work and skill in the middle of the resilient nature. Must have taken loads of effort to built and run it in this rough enviroment. Great panoramatic views of the surrounding peaks. Accessible on foot (as we did) or by chairlift and shuttle bus (opening hours on the web).

It is a nice little chapel to remember on St. John Sarkander. When we were there it was unforunately closed, but still we could take a look inside.

I only saw the building from the outside during a walk by the river and in the outskirts of Olomouc, but it was already impressive enough. Beautiful place, it's worth getting out of the city center for.

Main reason for going to see a memorial to the crew of a B-24 Liberator bomber shot down in WW II. Half the crew survived. My uncle did not. The names of all of the crew members are listed on the impressive and tasteful monument. This was created by the Czech Association of Airmen in appreciation for the American effort in the war.
