The Prachov Rocks (Prachovské Skàly in Czech) is a DON'T MISS scenic attraction in the Bohemian Paradise, about an hour and 20 minute drive from Prague. Parking is 100 CZK, and admission ranges from 50 CZK for students to 120 CZK for adults. This natural area has spectacular views of tall weather-worn sandstone column hoo doo- like formations - much like Bryce Canyon in Utah, but in a completely different setting.
Hiking paths are maintained and well marked. We hiked for about 2 hours in light rain with umbrellas, ( a lifetime first for us) but fortunately we could still see the beautiful views and formations. There are several long-range viewing platforms. You could easily spend a long afternoon hiking and taking pictures here. Hiking boots will make for a better experience here, especially during or after rain. There is an on-site restaurant, gift shop, and restrooms (for 10 CZK per person). It is about a 12-minute drive to Jicin, where we enjoyed lunch at the La Favorita Restaurant at the Hotel Jicin. We combined the Prachov Rocks hike with a trip to the Trosky Castle ruins ( 20 minute drive from Jicin ), and a trip to the Bastei Bridge just over the German border ( 2 hour 15 minute drive from Jicin ) for sightseeing and dinner. The Prachov Rocks is likely the most impressive scenic natural area in Czechia !!

The tower is nicely renovated, I like it. But the view of the parking lot (read: the main square) is not so nice...

During the summer I visit this castle every week with my clients. Castle is very well preserved and shows how people lived in Middle Age. Interiors are interesting and well preserved too. Staff is helpful and guides are knowledgeable. Tours are in Czech language, but they have nice texts many languages. Recommended!

The castle, including the garden, is a beautiful decoration of the city. But also the devil welcoming in the restaurant Peklo - Bartoňova utulna is sympathetic, even if it is folk art.

This small area is for sure worth seeing ! We came there specially because we knew this is a wonderfull place.
    And it is indeed !
    Few practical recommendations :
There are two basic tours - a short one marked yellow and a "full" one, marked green. The green one is far better although it is demanding some phsical training.
If you enter the park through the main entrance, choose the green mark and go to the left ! Most people turn right and if you do it differently, you go against the main stream of tourists but later you meet them just for a while and thus you can enjoy the trip w/t crowds.
We started at 9 a.m. and we were there quite alone. But keep in mind that the area gets quickly overcrowded later during the day especially during the main seson. This may complicate the visit of some viewpoints which are on the top of the rocks.
Our favourite viewpoint was "Vyhlídka míru" offering great view of Trosky and Ještěd ....

I am not sure how many tours there are but I believe ours was the one for kids. The castle has been renovated but many of the furniture and the paintings are not the originals. The castle had many owners and at one point it was even a boarding school so as you can imagine all the rooms were repurposed.

The guide that we had was very energetic and she involved the kids in the tour to keep them entertained. The castle is nice but I was not overly impressed.

We visited also the beer brewery which was a nice experience as well. At the end of the short tour you get to test the fresh beer.

The new owner is a very good businessman who is utilizing the resources at his disposal to generate money. I believe that there renovations were quite costly. 😊

This is used to be a hospital, many years ago. The tour around the spectacular building takes about an hour. It is about 1.5 hours drive from Prague, but well worth the trip. There is also a very big herb garden to view.

Often you go on a war tour its one fortification that you see. Here you have linked a large artillery fortress with its surrounding defensive strong points. You walk and understand how they protected the bigger fortress and as they tell the story how the fortresses were linked in this corner of the Czech / German / Poland border in 1938. Lots of tress now but the views are fantastic, its 2000 feet up but a great place for Czechs to fly kites have a picnic as well as mad Brits doing war tours many many miles from home...this is definitely in the boonies being 2.5 hours drive from Prague.

Hospital Kuks is one of the most beautiful places. Herb garden and Braun’s barogue statues are really refreshing. You can stop at Šporkův Mlýn and take a trip to hospital. Along the yellow marked road you can enjoy local historical arts.

Really nice place for a quiet walk in winter. It is probably very busy during summer months with places being open. We came during winter when everything was closed, but this meant the place was very quiet and peaceful. The monument to babicka and the children is very sweet.

We visited this romantic castle on Easter Friday, when the tour was a bit adjusted and also included interesting information about Easter in Central Europe. Easter and Christmas are the only time of the year when castle kitchen is also open to the public. We had a perfect pumpkin cake and chocolate. Highly recommended to visit.

While the church is in a graveyard it is open for visitors and fr a small fee you can go in and see the inside which is really quite beautiful, while around the outside are some rather interesting facts about it's history.

Worth seeing by visiting Hradec Králové. Most important building of the old town together with White tower. Landmark of the city. I was here with one foreign visitor about two months ago. It was closed and on the paper in entrance there was written: "Closed because of holiday". Crazy.

It was built on the place of old gothic castle in 1560-1569 in Renaissance style as a representative seat of Czech noble family Trcka. From 1634 it had new owners - family Colloredo - who hold it till 40th years of 20th century. Till now there is a judgement trial between Czech state and former owners which is not solved till now.
In the castle you can see a very fine gallery of art and of weapons from 16-19th century.
