This is a huge, beautiful park outside of Pyatigorsk, at the base of Mt. Beshtau, in Zheleznovodsk. It is full of beautiful fountains and flower arrangements. There are often concerts and events in it on the weekend.

The main downside is there are parts with no ramps to get strollers w/ kids up/down. It's also a bit confusing to find some of the entries. But once you are there it is beautiful and very picturesque. You can easily spend several hours here on a leisurely stroll.....

Being partly a local and yet partly a tourist I can highly recommend you downloading maps.me app in order to complete this hike safely. The mountain doesn't seem to be that high and tough to get to the top, however, the surrounding forest and an enormous number of misleading paths may bring you to some other places other than top. So navigation is a MUST have when going there without a local guide/ hiking experience/ clue about the place. You can start this hike as in Pyatigorsk as in some other towns nearby but whatever you choose make sure to bring some wind-proof jacket, a buff, and shoese with non-slippery soles. Hiking poles are optional but might be extremely helpful on the way down espesially when the ground is wet (spring/autumn). I definitely do not recommend you going there alone in winter time when it's all covered by snow because you can easily get lost there. Actually finding a local guide is always a great option so that you try different paths on the way up and down, get to know some cool facts about the area, and just feel confident. Good luck everyone!

This is one of the staple parts of the Zheleznovodsk Park, a huge stairwell from the main park walkway, descending all the way to the bottom of the hill. They recently built the stairwell all the way to the lake at the bottom of the hill including new monuments and statues to Lermontov and other Russian historical figures who lived in the North Caucasus.

The stairwell is very beautiful with flower beds and fountains. It is pretty steep, though, and if you have a stroller with kids, you'll have to carry the stroller, which is the one down-side. Much better to start at the top and work your way down, than the other way around, otherwise you might not make it to the top!

Still, very beautiful with great views of the surrounding mountain peaks in the area.....
