- endrju_74Ipswich, UK4,837 contributionsNicely hidden cemetery, located between houses on Łokietka street, on steep slope, invisible from the street level. It is one of over 400 WWI cemeteries that have been built in 1914-1915 in western Galicia, during or just after huge Gorlice - Tarnów operation. In this particular one there's 81 Austrian soldiers, 57 German soldiers and 66 Russian (other side of the front) soldiers burried in 52 graves. Oasis of reflection amongst busy road and houses.Written July 5, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- endrju_74Ipswich, UK4,837 contributionsLocated on a hill, that use to be called Korczak, but now it is called Cmentarna Góra (Cemetery Hill). Access by foot on blue-marked long distance trail, or by car from Korczaka street, with small car park right at the gate of cemetery, with last stretch of a road very narrow. This is the main cemetery of Gorlice Cemetery District - Austria-Hungary Army had their cemetery branch, divided into districts (11 of them), and every district had their main cemetery. This one here was not only main for the district, but also main for the then just finished Gorlice battle. Oasis of peace and quiet. Nice views towards Gorlice town and Beskid Niski rolling hills.Written June 15, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - endrju_74Ipswich, UK4,837 contributionsThis is the main building of a museum of many branches - and before we got to Gorlice we visited all of those branches: Greek orthodox church in Bartne (few years back), Grease makers farm in Łosie, Mansion in Szymbark and open air museum in Szymbark. And all of them were very interesting and we really enjoyed our visits. So our expectations about main part of the museum were big. So it was a bit dissapointing, to see nice little mansion with a lot of history converted to a temporary exhibits place, not revealing the story of the place. When we visited, there was a large exhibit on industrial photography. And one of the halls had some old little pictures about the Karwacjan Mansion, but it definitely wasn't enough. So either start your visits to mentioned above places here, or avoid this Mansion altogether, to avoid dissapointement.Written July 5, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
