Definitely worth a visit to understand the cultural heritage of Malacca. Either ask for a guide or a booklet provided to explain when going around the home. Fairly steep stairs to the first floor. Beautiful crafted features of the home, artefacts, clothing, old photos etc.
There is a souvenir shop at the end.

This is the old Dutch administration building now refurbished and houses an excellent exhibition on the origins and growth of Melacka.

Set over two stories, this is a good way to learn the history in about an hour. The only gripe was, yet again, the discriminatory pricing against foreign tourists who pay double the rate of Malaysians.

This house built at the waterfront has an estimated price of 700.000 dollar, but it's more than that. The owner shows his house with excellent stories remembering the past, his father and grandfather, he is a living legend. Admire the house and all what you can see inside.

Bigger than expected and take you from his childhood all the way to his 7 voyages. All well explained.
The only miss was a guide.
Takes a few hours to read all the panels.
    Definitely worth a visit.

Great place to go in the morning or afternoon as it’s indoors and air con (thank goodness for it)… Display models and exhibits are nice but the explanations in English requires a lot more proofreading as there are spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.. great place to go with young children as it is educational and fun to explore..

Malacca or Melaka in Malaysia was our favorite place. It is romantic city filled with history and interesting things to see, a mix of European and Asian architecture style.

Make sure to go on a boat cruise along the river at night after 7:30pm to see the city filled with colours.

Be there during the week-end or just before Friday to experience the famous night market.

Visit the church square (red buildings), go to the top of St Paul’s church, learn all about the Gallery Kota Melaka (free entrance) and the Cheng’s Ho cultural museum (watch their short history movie to understand the connection with Malacca).

There are all kinds of museum in this town and people are so nice! the friendliest and most welcoming we have found so far in Malaysia.

It is a relaxing city for couples or family with kids to spend a couple of days enjoying your vacation.

I totally recommend visiting this city.

This gallery has amazingly beautiful artwork , sketches, prints, postcards and handmade soaps. We were lucky to walk in by chance when the artist was there. He and his son, also an artist, were so friendly and welcoming. It's a lovely, peaceful space. There was absolutely no pressure to buy but we did get a small, high quality framed print for a very fair price. Also, the Cafe right next door has fantastic coffee and a beautiful large mural inside.

A place to soak in the nostalgic vibe of life in the 50s to 70s, with tonnes of items on display in settings such as a home, kitchen, medicine hall and hair salon. For visitors who grew up in Malaysia and Singapore during this period, some items are sure to evoke memories! Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they want and take photos to their hearts' content.

The museum was very good, it has lots of information about the history of melaka. The only negative thing is that most of the museum is a series of painting with information about the history of melaka, there are not many actual artefacts to look at.

It was a great idea to place a massive submarine – almost in the middle of nowhere – to act as a magnet for other tourist sites in Maleka. However, the tourists haven't really come, which is a shame as the submarine, an ex French 67 metre vessel, (with 22 metres width and 18m depth) which saw operational service until 2004, is huge and makes a stunning first impression.

You can walk through about half of the top level and really have a sense of the claustrophobic condition the submariners endured. The bunks and personal space is so tiny, it was hard to imagine how the crew of 50 survived for so long in such a confined space.

I would have liked to be able to wander the entire length and also to have seen what was on the lower deck – so much more could be shown. It is also a shame that the attraction remains almost an island.

Apart from a party of school children, there were few tourists – it was interesting.

As its 700m from the main roads, the Grab cabs didn't want to know for a return journey, but if you walk to big streets, then its fine.

Small shop with a good and wide selection of unique handicrafts, run by a very friendly owner.

They sell some lovely Temiar, Mari Mari n Penan weave items. I absolutely loved the colourful wood block prints, pottery and cushion covers.

Unfortunately our guide is not a guide but a driver. He dropped us in this great place and came to pick us after 2 hours. We had a hard time trying to ask about places and read some signage to understand. Later on, I came to know that what we saw was The Proclamation of Independence Memorial.

Went for a day trip to the Prison Museum. Amazing and informative experience.

The warden was friendly and even demonstrated a canning session. He even guided us in the prison while sharing insights and prison stories!

Should go there when you have the chance and enjoy a cuppa at the cafe next to the museum.
