The museum surpassed my expectations. There are two levels of exhibits and a small cafe and store accompanying the museum. The exhibits are focused on WWII but also includes additional exhibits. Exhibit narratives are translated into several languages.

Very interesting place to visit and film was topical and informative. Basic lunch provided for our Tour Group was fresh and enjoyable.

How many people do you know have been to the location where three time zones converge ( Norway, Russia, and Finland)? This is what makes the trek so unique. After a long drive, on some not so smooth roads, and a 5 km walk on grass, dirt and planks, you finally arrive at your designation. What ever you do, do not cross the rope or even the air space between Norway and Russia. It's illegal and there are plenty of cameras to alert the Norwegian authorities that you have broken the law. If you do, you'll be confronted by soldiers with automatic weapons on you way back to the parking lot. Anyway, it's a fun walk in the right weather. Although the monument isn't all that much, it's the thrill of being there that makes the trip warranted. We went through a private tour company and it was extremely pricey, but then again we did it. And did I say, how many people do you know have been where three time zones converge?

Very interesting from a history perspective and film clip provided a valuable insight. Certainly worth a visit.

It is a great FREE thing to see/do in Kirkenes after everything is closed or if you have some time to kill.

It is basically a statue on a memorial pedestal on a small hilltop. I think it was a nice gesture and the honourable thing to do for soldiers of whatever nationality that fought and died to liberate your city.

If you have any interest in history I think it is an interesting period when countries had strange bedfellows out of necessity (allies bombing, the Finns, the Nazis, Norwegian resistance, and then the Soviet liberators who will later become Cold War arch-enemies).

Anyway, it was a 5 minute walk from my hotel in Sentrum. It costs nothing, and it was good exercise. Recommended.

We took photos here as our hotel was very near to the church. Very beautiful when covered in snow.
We met locals who then explained about this church.

Free admission art gallery in the city centre of Kirkenes. Exhibitions are changed after 1-2 months or so. When I visited, a local shoemaker showed very fun, interesting and artistic shoes. This was a nice surprise, since I just popped in without knowing about the art gallery. I recommend it! Free entrance, so nothing to lose.

Nice open square with the monument in the center of town. There is an accompanying exhibit to look through. You will probably walk by it!

We stayed at the Snow Hotel and planned several adventures with them including this excellent king crab safari experience! We had read about it and we’re excited with anticipation, and it lived up to our high expectations. Dirk, our guide, chef, and instructor was excellent! We learned about the creatures as he hauled the crab traps up from the frosty depths. He gave us photo ops, described their biology while cleaning them, towed us back from the frozen fjord in the sledge behind the snowmobile (my son, to his delight, got to ride behind Dirk on the machine), expertly cooked them to perfection, and then gave us thoughtful instructions for how to easily open the delicious crab legs. Great experience, and Dirk made it even better.
    Highly recommended!

We ended up going here a couple of times as our hotel pool was out of action. It is a great facility right in the centre of town and whilst not huge is was never overcrowded and has options to swim, dive, warm pool, jacuzzi. Our kids loved it!

We hugely enjoyed a snowmobile experience with Wolf - our Sami guide who did so much more than ensure a safe exciting trip on the frozen Fjord. The experience was booked through Hurtigruten and whilst not cheap was everything we hoped for. Bitterly cold day but we were equipped with great warm clothing and the snowmobiles had heated handles which made all the difference. Highly recommended

My cousin and I booked a private tour to see the border and the snowhotel after getting off the Hurtigruten in Kirkenes. Our guide, Ina, was fantastic and a real delight. She gave us some great suggestions for things to do the following day as we had a day to kill. She definitely made our bonus day better. It was super easy to book our tour and it was great to work with a local company.
