What travelers are saying
- Clivel_98Hereford, UK1,489 contributionsReading used to have lots of interesting little independent shops. However, as it has 'improved', these have tended to be replaced with the standard could-be-anywhere chain stores. There are still areas such as the old town hall and its museum and the Abbey gate. The Abbey ruins should be a highlight, but are still closed to the public. The old prison (where Oscar Wilde stayed and wrote The Ballad of Reading Gaol should be a fascinating place to go - except the ministry of justice has kept it empty and closed for a couple of years (bar a couple of weeks of special tours) while trying to flog it off cheap for housing development.
The Thames and the Kennet flow through the town - and are quite nice in places.
It's just such a pity that it is such a dull place.Written July 21, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a par 3 course and a long course which is 2 x 9 holes with different tee locations on a few hole for each 9.
One thing that I am always impressed with is the customer service. The ladies who take the bookings and in the clubhouse are so friendly that it makes you want to come back and rebook as you feel so welcoming. I would love them to have a more extensive food menu as many a time would have had something to eat with a cold beer after a nice round of golf!.Written November 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From the first phone call to the day of the gathering the team were very helpful and understanding of the situation.
We had buffet food, hot/cold drinks and a tab behind the bar.
Volume and type of food was received well by all guestsWritten August 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We are a family of older teens/young adults and our parents and we are throughly enjoyed it. Staff were friendly, course was set out well and included fun challenges and very good value for money. Would highly recommend.Written September 2, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Louise PBerkshire, UK55 contributionsThis looks to be a lovely little gold club. I can’t really comment as I am not a golfer, I attended the venue for an evening event. Lovely room, well decorated which helped provide the ambiance. Food was plentiful and delicious. I look forward to going again.Written January 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- James C6 contributionsWe found this course after a friend of ours went to Finland and played some Disc Golf with people we know over there. Disc Golf is pretty much like ordinary golf, you have different discs that are designed for your Drives, Approach and Putting. There are metal chained baskets that are your golf holes.
It was really easy to rent some discs from the Activity center where you'd typically hire boats/paddle boards etc, you then walk out onto the course and play to your heart's content. This is something that pretty much anyone can play, we've been with kids as young as 4, or a competitive group of friends who want to throw a disc a really really long way!
We loved it so much we now pretty much play every week.
Once you get the bug you will find yourself buying your own discs, meeting the local players on the course, playing in competitions and generally having a blast.
Definitely try it out!!Written May 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Steve J10 contributionsFinally getting round to competing my Rescue course, DiveStyle made me feel welcome and at ease.
From start to finish the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and experienced.
From the Knowledge reviews and exams and confined sessions on a Saturday was all at the pace of the students.
This was continued on the Sunday Open water sessions.
Ivor the instructor and Gareth the assistant DM really made the training really enjoyable. Making us think on our feet (or in our fins). Giving examples or certain scenarios and relating that to the possibilities we could find ourselves in.
Overall an enjoyable experience, albeit tiring but very rewarding. And my thanks to the staff involved.
I would definitely recommend if anyone wants to take up diving or continue their education in diving or just want to go and have a go, use DiveStyle.Written November 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
