Well worth a visit too if on Achill Island.....the Atlantic ocean cliff drive to get there can be a bit daunting, especially if the clouds are so low visibility is only about 15 feet.....but as I said it's worth it.
The drive up along the cliff is a very exciting, take it easy if you are a nervous driver (watch out for kamakaze sheep) but it's so worth it to reach the little bit of paradise that keem beach is.

The scenery is beautiful and learning about the sheepdogs was fascinating, but the best part was that Joe makes you feel like an old friend dropping in for a visit rather than spectating tourists.

... sandy path leads you out on to the peninsula proper - acres upon acres of open grazing land, filled with cows gently gazing at you as you stroll past, a blanket of tiny purple and yellow alpine flowers underfoot.
A wander around the three back to back beaches on this peninsula is divine, all shallow and calm, on a sunny day their waters glow.

And as an extra bonus, we scheduled a tour and tasting of the fabulous (fairly) new Connacht Distillery on the banks of the beautiful River Moy The facility is state-of-the art and pristine.
Having done the tour and tasting with friends we were very impressed especially with our tour guide Grainne, She explained each stage of the distillery process in great detail and had great local knowledge!

Joanne was particularly fantastic with Sarah and, by our last 2 days, Sarah was cantering along the beaches with confidence, (and a grin from ear to ear!).
My eldest is 14 and has been riding for 10 years and the longer treks for more experienced riders are great for her with galloping along beaches a real treat.
