Stop by the information booth in town, on the village green, get get maps of the trails and ask about walking times, and stop by a shop or market for a few snacks before heading out on the trail.
This place is less than 30 minutes by Dart from Dublin and you get to see all these beautiful landscapes and have some fun with some beginners level hiking (although it can be dangerous in some parts).

When you get up to the top look all around you: Ireland is so green and so stunning, and you'll imagine yourself to be the princess of your castle, nestled up on the hill, one step closer to the sky.
The ruins are scattered all over the top of the hilltop, making the visit so much fun because there are many different sections of the original structure to explore.

We had a relaxed 3 k walk to the summit stopping to learn about each of the ancient monuments, archaeological evidence and to hear lots of entertaining folklore in an informal easygoing way.
Great ancient history to see and an amazing "energy" about the place....a little spooky to be honest but just incredible.

By the way, if you’re driving and have a lot of time for your tour to start, you can go to Trim Castle or also Hill of Tara, both are beautiful as well and are very close from there.
